In 2021, 23-year-old Vladimir Guerrero Jr., led the American League in home runs with 48 while hitting .311.  He led the American League in the following categories, runs scored (123), OBP (.401), slugging percentage (.601), OPS (1.002), OPS+ (167) and total bases (363).  This season he’s hitting .265 with a team leading 17 home runs, 41 runs batted in, 124 total bases and an OPS of .863.  Additionally, he has a slugging percentage of .506 with an OPS + of 144. 

Bo Bichette led the American League in hits with 191 in 2021.  This season he has 74 hits overall; 15 doubles, 10 home runs, 117 total bases with an OPS of .725 this year.  Additionally, he’s knocked in 33 runs, scored 37 runs and a slugging percentage of .421 in 2022. In 2021, Matt Chapman slammed 27 home runs, drove in 72 runs, and accumulated 213 total bases while a member of the Oakland Athletics.  In the 2022 season, he has 10 doubles, nine home runs, 27 runs batted in, 84 total bases with a .692 OPS. 

George Springer in his second year as a Blue Jay, is hitting .263 in his first 232 at-bats of 2022.  He’s hit 13 home runs, driven in 34 runs with 115 total bases this campaign.  Springer has an OPS of .833 with a slugging percentage of .496 this year.  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is hitting .271 in 214 at-bats this season with 15 doubles, four home runs, 29 runs knocked in and 85 total bases.  In 2022, he’s slugging .397 with an OPS of .722.

Lucas Giolito is 4-3 in 11 starts with an ERA of 4.78 in 2022.  A Cy Young favorite to start the season, has not performed up to expectations this year.  In 58 1/3 innings, he has 73 strike outs, allowing 31 earned runs with a WHIP 1.491 this campaign.  Giolito will be key to the White Sox success as the season continues.

Tim Anderson who won the American League batting title in 2019 is hitting .357 this season, as he recently returned from the injured list.  He’s hit five home runs, driven in 19 runs, stolen eight bases, and accumulated 84 total bases.  Third baseman Jake Burger is hitting .259 in his first 147 at-bats this season.  Burger has seven doubles, eight home runs, 24 runs batted in with an OPS of .782. 

Andrew Vaughn is hitting .330 for the White Sox this year.  He’s second on the team in home runs (eight), tied for second in runs batted in with 31 and leads the team with a .505 slugging percentage this year.  The first-round pick in 2019 has 92 total bases and an OPS .887 in 2022.  Luis Robert’s 2021 season was hampered by a right hip flexor tear, causing him to be out for a little over three months.  He’s hitting .298 with seven home runs (tied for third on the team) and 31 runs batted in this year.  Robert has 92 total bases, an OPS of .760 and a .428 slugging percentage in 2022.     

Ross Stripling is 3-2 in 16 games (eight starts) with an ERA of 3.28 this season.  In over 46 innings pitched, he’s struck out 38 batters and allowed 17 earned runs with a WHIP of 1.071 in 2022.

They have a team batting average of .254, fourth in the league, and their OPS is .751, third in all of MLB.  The Blue Jays pitching staff has allowed 4.32 runs per nine innings, 16th in the league with opponents’ batting .246 against the team, 20thin MLB.  Toronto is 1-4 in their last five games vs. a right-handed starter.  Over is 16-5 in Blue Jays last 21 games vs. a right-handed starter.
