Washington Wizards at Milwaukee Bucks 2/6/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds
Washington Wizards at Milwaukee Bucks Preview
Aside from the struggles they have had recently, the Washington Wizards got some bad news after hearing that point guard John Wall is now out for the next 12 months after the already-injured star ruptured his Achilles tendon. Unfortunately for the Wizards, they won’t get any breaks as they will be on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks tonight, who own the league’s best record.
Milwaukee is 39-13 on the season, are 9-1 in their last 10 and have won their last four games. They have a 1.5 game advantage over the Toronto Raptors for first place in the East and have been an excellent 22-4 at the Fiserv Forum. Washington, meanwhile, is 10th in the East with a 22-31 record. They are 4-6 in their last 10 and have lost their last two entering tonight’s game.
The last matchup between the Bucks and Wizards was just days ago on February 2. The Bucks rolled to a 131-115 victory with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way with 37 points and 10 rebounds. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 24 points. The win allowed the Bucks to avenge a loss to the Wizards last month.

Wizards Analysis
The Wizards have lost their last two games, one of which came against the Bucks. Aside from not having John Wall’s offense, the Wizards defense has not looked good lately. In the two-game span, they have lost by a margin of 12 points and have allowed 268 points in those games.
Their last loss came on Monday against the 18-35 Atlanta Hawks. Despite several Wizards having big scoring nights, they lost 129-137 and allowed the Hawks to score 38 points each in the final two quarters. A total of nine Hawks players scored in double figures against Washington. Only DeAndre’ Bembry and Alex Len scored fewer than 10 points in the game.
The Wizards were led by Beal, who had 27 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Trevor Ariza added 25 points and Jeff Green came off the bench for 26 points.
The Bucks are a much more potent offensive team than the Hawks are, so Wizards coach Scott Brooks has to hope some of the defensive issues work themselves out, since defending Giannis alone will be a tall order.

Bucks Analysis
The Bucks are coming home after a successful five-game road trip. They lost the first game of the road trip to the Oklahoma City Thunder but followed with wins over the Pistons, Raptors, Wizards, and Nets. They won those games pretty comfortably as well, so coming back home against a team they just beat soundly is a nice welcome home present for the Bucks.
The Bucks are reportedly involved in a trade sending Thon Maker to Detroit for Stanley Johnson, which should give them yet another capable defender and some depth at forward, but even if the trade goes through today, Johnson would likely not join them for tonight’s game. Maker has not been a regular part of the rotation as head coach Mike Budenholzer has opted to start Brook Lopez and play Ersan Ilyasova as his primary backup.
In the Bucks’ Monday night win over the Nets, Giannis had a near triple-double with 30 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists. The all-star captain is a serious MVP candidate this season and has led the Bucks all season. The Bucks backcourt tandem of Eric Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon continue to play well now that they are both healthy. In limited minutes on Monday, they had 15 points and 16 points apiece. Brogdon also added eight assists.
