Week 10 NFL Defense (DEF) Fantasy Football Rankings: Stats & Projections

If it looks like a smaller slate of games this week, that is because there are six teams on bye. One of these teams includes the New England Patriots, so if you have them on your roster, that means no easy 20 points this week. Fantasy football defenses put on a show this week, and there were several defenses finishing in the double-digits. The big one was Pittsburgh, who had a pick six against Indy. The Chargers, Texans, Colts, Bills, and Dolphins were also among the top scoring defenses this week. Only one real disappointing team was the 49ers struggling on the defensive side against the Cardinals on Thursday Night Football.  You can find our season long rankings here.

Los Angeles RamsWeek 10 Top Options

The Los Angeles Rams check in this week as a strong defense. They will go on the road, but take on Pittsburgh. While they managed to put up some points on the Colts defense, seven of those were due to a pick six. This is a team missing James Conner, and will have to likely throw the ball to keep up with the Rams offense. With Mason Rudolph under center, the Rams are in a great upside spot. There are some obvious spots this week, as Baltimore come in with a decent matchup against the Bengals, who have allowed the 6th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. They are moving on from Andy Dalton, and that just spells trouble even with AJ Green possibly returning. This offensive line is still a disaster, and a lot of their issues start right there. This pass rush should have a field day.

New Orleans will have a chance to capitalize on a struggling Atlanta offensive line. They will also put them in comeback mode fairly early, which gives the Saints a chance to generate some turnovers through the air. Atlanta has allowed the 7th most fantasy points to opposing defenses this season. Over the last four weeks, they have allowed 10, 2, 17, and 8 fantasy points to them. The two was against Arizona. Indianapolis still put up double-digit fantasy points this week despite not looking at their best. They are in another good spot against Miami, who are allowing 11.4 fantasy points per game to opposing defenses.

Baltimore RavensStreaming Options

Because Baltimore hasn’t been great on the defensive side, the ownership has been low. The bye week also helped some. They are around 35% owned, and are a great pick up for this week as I highlight above. Kansas City is the other one, especially for deeper leagues. The Chiefs had a pedestrian showing against the Chiefs, which isn’t a knock against them given the Vikings are a solid opponent. The Chiefs have been able to get to the quarterback at times this season, and this is a big week where they can do that again. The Titans have allowed the most sacks in the league this season, and Ryan Tannehill isn’t an appealing backup quarterback to lead this Tennessee offense. The Colts are another lower owned defense in a good spot, with them being less than 50% owned.

New England PatriotsReviewing The Halfway Mark

The Patriots have been a league winner so far, and even though their schedule gets tougher in the second half, they have dominated lesser opponents in a big way. Carolina was looked as an iffy fantasy defense coming into the year, and while they struggle against the run, the Panthers have been excellent against the pass and in the pass rush. They are one of a few teams with over 30 sacks already on the year, and are double-digits in interceptions. The 49ers may have struggled on Halloween, but this defense has been excellent. The Bosa draft pick has paid off, and the free agent moves have as well.

Houston, Baltimore, Jacksonville, and the Los Angeles Chargers have been disappointing in terms of the the hype before the season and where they were possibly drafted. The Jaguars trading Jalen Ramsey downgraded the secondary, and upgraded the Rams, even with the departure of Aqib Talib. His trade to Miami was a salary dump, or possible disagreement. The Cardinals, Falcons, Dolphins, Giants, and Buccaneers have allowed the most points this season. The Patriots, 49ers, Bills, Bears, and Cowboys are allowing the fewest points so far this season.
