Another week of college basketball is in the books. The musical chairs continues in the power rankings as no teams can stay near the top. Here are this weeks Lineups college basketball power rankings.
1. Gonzaga 20-1
Gonzaga remains at number one after they cruised past BYU on Saturday. They have the whole week off before the get back into conference play this weekend. They’ll remain number one until someone knocks them off.
2. Baylor 16-1
Baylor snuck past Oklahoma on Monday to get to 16-1 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. They have the week off before they head to Florida to take on the Gators in a road non-conference game. The Bears will be tested yet again to stay at one loss.
3. Kansas 15-3
Kansas earned their 15th win of the season against in-state rival Kansas State. However, a brawl ensued at the end the end of the game, and could cost some Jayhawks players some time. Silvio De Sousa has been suspended indefinitely, and more could come down.
4. San Diego State 20-0
The Aztecs are an impressive 20-0 on the season after their win over Wyoming on Tuesday. They still have nine conference games to get through before they finish the regular season undefeated. There could be a team in their way that knocks them off before then.
5. Florida State 16-2
Florida State skated by Miami over the weekend. They sit at 6-1 in the ACC, and have the week off before they take on Notre Dame this weekend. The Seminoles continue to impress and will look to make a deep run in March.
6. Louisville 15-3
Louisville finished off an impressive three game road stretch with a win over Duke this weekend. The Cardinals are looking to get back on track after losing three of five games a month ago. Since then, they have won four straight.
7. Dayton 16-2
Dayton snuck past Saint Louis last Friday to remain undefeated in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers look unbeatable so far in their conference, but don’t be surprised if a few teams like the Billikens step up when they face Dayton.
8. Villanova 15-3
Villanova took care of Butler at home on Wednesday. The Wildcats finished off a four game home stretch and will have eight road games remaining on the season. This could take a toll on the team as conference play rolls on.
9. Duke 16-3
Duke bounced back against Miami on Tuesday with an 89-59 win. The Blue Devils lost back to back games against Clemson and Louisville over the last 10 days. Coach K should get the shipped back in the right direction, and a win over Miami is a start.
10. Michigan State 14-4
11. Seton Hall 14-4
Seton Hall has won eight in a row and remains undefeated in the Big East. Myles Powell has been one of the best players in the country, and huge part of the Pirates success. They’ll still be tested as the season continues on.
12. Auburn 15-2
Auburn lost back to back road games against Alabama and Florida over the last week. This knocked the Tigers from their undefeated season, but don’t count out Bruce Pearl. He’ll get things back on track and get Auburn a chance to win the SEC.
13. Oregon 15-4
Oregon had their second conference slip up against Washington State last week. They sit at 4-2, but have some issues defensively that could hurt them down the stretch. If they could fix them, then look out for the Ducks in March.
14. Kentucky 14-4
Kentucky has looked impressive since they fell to South Carolina last week. They took care of Georgia on Tuesday and go to 5-1 on the season. The Wildcats will be tested over the next 10 days with Texas Tech and Auburn.
15. West Virginia 15-3
West Virginia bounced back with a dominating win over Texas on Monday. They were embarrassed by Kansas State the game before, but moved to 4-2 in the Big 12 after Monday’s win. The Mountaineers play Mizzou this weekend in the Big 12/SEC challenge.
16. Maryland 15-4
Maryland bounced back with two straight wins after two straight losses. The Terrapins have had a roller coaster of a season and are 5-3 in the Big Ten. They finally won a game on the road, but I don’t how impressive it is beating Northwestern.
17. Memphis 14-3
Memphis has had the last week off since their win over Cincinnati last Thursday. They take on Tulsa on Wednesday in hopes of continuing their impressive season.
18. Butler 15-4
Butler has lost three straight after getting all the way into the top in the Lineups power rankings. Regression was a matter of time for the Bulldogs after an impressive 15-1 start to the season. They’ll bounce back in the Big East over the next month.
19. Illinois 14-5
Illinois is on a nice five game winning streak after beating Purdue on the road on Tuesday. The Illini have been playing great basketball and are off to their best start in the Big Ten since the 04-05 season.
20. Iowa 13-5
Iowa has won three straight and now sits at 13-5 on the season. The Hawkeyes got off to a slow start in the Big Ten with a 1-3 record. Now, they sit at 4-3 and are heating up as we get into the heart of conference play.
21. Arizona 13-5
Arizona has been trying to end this skid they’ve been on over the last month. They won two straight and have the week off before getting back into action this weekend. If they can get back on track then Arizona has a great chance of winning the Pac-12.
22. Rutgers 14-4
Rutgers is ranked for the first time since the mid-70’s. This has been a wild season, and it makes it even crazier with Rutgers sitting at 14-4 on the season, and 5-2 in the Big Ten. Can Rutgers continue to magic?
23. Colorado 14-4
Colorado suffered their fourth loss of the season to Arizona on Saturday. The Buffaloes have looked great for most of the season, and will look to get back in the win column Thursday at Washington State.
24. LSU 14-4
LSU finds themselves back in the Lineups power rankings. After sort of a slow start to the season. They have won seven straight games, and are 6-0 in the SEC. The Tigers could be turning a corner on the season.
25. Texas Tech 12-6
Texas Tech continues to struggle to find footing in the college basketball season. They fell to TCU on Tuesday to go to 3-3 on the Big 12. The Red Raiders need to find some consistency if they want to make another run this March.
