Another week in the books in the college basketball season. Not much chaos in this weeks power rankings as teams start to settle into conference play. Here are this weeks college basketball power rankings.
1. Gonzaga 21-1
Gonzaga has played once in the last week and securing the victory over Pacific last weekend. They get back into action on Thursday against Santa Clara. Five of their next seven games are on the road.
2. Baylor 18-1
Baylor continues to roll as the knocked off Iowa State on Wednesday. They’re now 7-0 in the Big 12 and might continue to dominate opponents as no one seems to be able to slow down this team.
3. Kansas 17-3
Kansas has won five straight and now find themselves 6-1 in the Big 12 this season. They should be tested again this weekend when Texas Tech comes to Lawrence. Right now, it looks like the Jayhawks and Baylor are competing for the Big 12 regular season.
4. San Diego State 22-0
San Diego State remains the last undefeated team in college basketball. They are 11-0 in the Mountain West have rarely been tested so far in conference play. They’ll have to take on Utah State Saturday who might be their toughest opponent until March.
5. Louisville 18-3
Louisville remains the fifth ranked team in the Lineups power rankings. They have won seven straight games and are 9-1 in the ACC. Their road matchup against NC State could be sneaky tough for the Seminoles.
6. Dayton 19-2
Dayton is another team that has been on fire over the last six weeks. They have won 10 in a row and remain undefeated in the Atlantic 10. They might not be tested much until March. This team ins the real deal.
7. Villanova 17-3
Villanova is starting to find their groove as they head into February second in the Big East with a 7-1 conference record. Freshman Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Justin Moore are putting in work for the Wildcats.
8. Duke 17-3
Duke has won two straight after losing back to back games against Clemson and Louisville. Vernon Carey reamins one of the nations top freshman and a huge reason why the Blue Devils are 17-3 this season.
9. Florida State 17-3
Florida State fell to Virginia on the road this past Tuesday. The Seminoles were on fire before Tuesday’s loss with a 10-game winning streak. This team is going to be a dangerous out come March.
10. Seton Hall 16-4
Seton Hall has been on fire since their December 14 loss to Rutgers. Since then, they have won 10-0 with an 8-0 conference record, which puts the Pirates in first place of the Big East. Myles Powell has been the real deal for Seton Hall.
11. Auburn 18-2
Auburn has got back on track with three straight wins after their two game losing streak a few weeks ago. They have skated past some of their opponents, but will get a big home test against Kentucky on Saturday.
12. Michigan State 16-5
Michigan State still remains atop of the Big Ten standings with an 8-2 record. The Spartans are starting to get into a rhythm as the heart of Big Ten play is upon us. We’re only one month away until Izzo in March is a thing again.
13. Oregon 17-4
Oregon has already played in five overtime games this season, and are 4-1 in those matchups. This shows how they can step up in high pressure situations, which should give them a lot of hope once March comes around.
14. Kentucky 16-4
Kentucky has won eight of their last nine matchups and are 6-1 in the SEC this season. The Wildcats will be test on the road against Auburn this weekend. This could show which team is the front runner to win the SEC.
15. Maryland 16-4
Maryland won back to back road games for the first time this season. The Terrapins have finally won a true road game, and both came against conference opponents. This will help them a ton as they try to make on run in the Big Ten.
16. Butler 17-4
After losing three straight games, Butler has bounced back with two wins. They’re now 5-3 in the Big East and will be looking to make a late push as the second half of conference games picks up.
17. Illinois 15-5
Illinois has been one of the hottest teams in college basketball as of late. They have won six in a row and won back to back road games against Purdue and Michigan. The Illini are putting themselves in position to be a legit darkhorse come March.
18. West Virginia 16-4
West Virginia suffered a tough road loss to Texas Tech earlier this week. The Mountaineers are now 4-3 in the Big 12, but this team should remain towards the top as conference continues on.
19. Iowa 15-5
The Hawkeyes have created an impressive resume so far this season. They have remained in the Lineups power rankings over the last month, and rightfully so. Iowa is one a five game winning streak, and 6-3 in the Big Ten.
20. Colorado 16-4
Colorado has been another team that has built an impressive resume during conference play. The Buffaloes are 5-2 in the Pac-12 with wins over Oregon and Washington. Now, a majority of these games have been at home. Let’s see how they do on the road.
21. LSU 16-4
LSU has won nine straight games and is the last remaining undefeated team in the SEC. The Tigers have been nearly getting past opponents, so it will be interesting to see if there will be any regression.
22. Houston 17-4
Houston finds their way into the power rankings for the first time this season. They are 7-1 in the AAC, and have won 11 of their last 12.
23. Rutgers 16-5
Rutgers is nearly hanging on in the power rankings. This has been a great season for the Scarlet Knights as they are 7-3 in the Big Ten and have some quality wins along the way. They could be dancing in March.
24. Wichita State 17-3
Wichita State has bounced back with two straight wins after losing two in a row a few weeks ago. This was good enough to get them back in the power rankings, for now. The Shockers could go on a run in February.
25. Arizona 13-6
Arizona is 4-6 over the last 10 games. Right now, they’re hanging onto a thread so this season doesn’t slip away from them. They’re 3-3 in the Pac-12 and could string together a few wins to gain some confidence.
