Teams are falling left and right in the college basketball world. Many of the teams in the Lineups power rankings lost over the weekend, as there was some pretty big shakeups. Here are this weeks college basketball power rankings.
1. Gonzaga 23-1
The Zags continue to remain number one after they took care of business against San Francisco over the weekend. They escaped a potential upset as they won 83-79. Regardless, this team remains at the top of our power rankings.
2. Baylor 20-1
Baylor secured another road win on the season after beating Kansas State on Monday night. The Bears keep rolling earning their 20th win in the contest. Also, their last loss came on November 8 against Washington.
3. Kansas 19-3
Kansas took care of Texas at home earlier this week to move to 8-1 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are starting to look like one of the best teams in college basketball, and don’t seemed to be fazed by early season losses.
4. San Diego State 23-0
San Diego State ran away against their victory over Utah State this weekend. Utah State had a lead in the second half, but the Aztecs buckled down and took care of business after a slow start.
5. Louisville 19-3
Louisville hasn’t lost a game in a month, and find themselves on an eight game winning streak. The Cardinals knocked off NC State on the road this weekend, and are now 10-1 in the ACC. They are looking like the real deal.
6. Dayton 20-2
Dayton just continues to roll through conference opponents in every game they play. Also, they fortunate to be at home for two more games before having to get back on the road. They should remain undefeated over the stretch.
7. Duke 18-3
Duke took care of Syracuse in the Carrier Dome in what was a high scoring affair. Vernon Carey lead the team with 26 points. The Blue Devils are tied for second with Florida State in the ACC standings.
8. Florida State 19-3
Florida State received a bit of a scare from North Carolina on Monday. The Seminoles held off the Tar Heels with Cole Anthony making his return to their lineup. Florida State is an impressive 9-2 in the ACC.
9. Auburn 19-2
Auburn came up with a huge home win against Kentucky on Saturday evening. The win gives the Tigers the tiebreaker for second place over the Wildcats. Bruce Pearl keeps getting this team to win games.
10. Maryland 17-4
Maryland has now won four in a row, and seven of their last nine games. They made a huge jump in the power rankings thanks too many teams losing over the weekend that were in front of them. They take on Rutgers this Tuesday.
11. Villanova 17-4
Villanova suffered an ugly home loss to Creighton on Saturday. The Wildcats has no answer for the Jayhawks as they suffered their second loss in conference play. However, they still remain second in the Big East standings.
12. West Virginia 18-4
West Virginia rebounded nicely against Kansas State over the weekend. The Mountaineers are now 5-3 in the Big 12, and hope to remain towards the top. They sit third in conference behind Kansas and Baylor.
13. Iowa 16-6
Iowa made a huge over the weekend with their win over Illinois on Sunday. Fran McCaffery had a run in with an Illinois assistant head coach after the game, but he didn’t let that get in the way of his team celebrating a big home win.
14. Seton Hall 16-5
After an incredible 10-game winning streak, Seton Hall fell to Xavier 74-62 at home on Saturday. This was the Pirates first loss since December 14. They’ll look to bounce back against Georgetown on Wednesday.
15. Michigan State 16-6
Michigan State suffered an ugly road loss against Wisconsin this weekend. The Badgers didn’t have Kobe King or Brad Davison, and the Spartans still couldn’t get things done on the road. They still hold the tie-breaker for first over Illinois.
16. Oregon 18-5
Oregon fell to Stanford on the road this Saturday. The Ducks are still fortunate to be sitting in first place in the Pac-12. As soon as you think Oregon is about to make a run, they fall short against an opponent.
17. Kentucky 16-5
Kentucky held a lead over Auburn at halftime this Saturday, but couldn’t get it done. The Wildcats fell on the road as they now sit at 6-2 in conference play.
18. Butler 17-5
The losses continue to rack up for teams ranked in the power rankings. Butler is another team that lost this weekend. The Bulldogs fell too Xavier at home 65-61. They are now 5-4 in the Big East after a great non-conference.
19. Colorado 17-5
Colorado picked up another huge win over the weekend against USC. They are now 6-3 in the Pac-12, and are surprising some people as they are in second place of the Pac-12 standings. Let’s see if the Buffaloes can continue this run.
20. LSU 17-4
LSU has now won 10 in a row thanks to their win over Ole Miss this weekend. The Tigers keep rolling and are in sole possession of first place in the SEC. Skyler Mays has been carrying this team to a 17-4 record.
21. Illinois 16-6
Illinois found their winning streak snapped on Sunday against Iowa. The Illini are still tied for first in the Big Ten with Michigan State. However, they’ll be tested over the next few games with Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers, and Penn State.
22. Arizona 15-6
Arizona won back to back games against Washington and Washington State, which were both on the road. They’ll finally head back to Tuscon for two home games. Six of their last 10 games will be at home, which should help them down the stretch.
23. Creighton 17-5
Creighton picked up a huge road win against Villanova over the weekend. They have won four in a row and are 6-3 in the Big East. Also, they find themselves ranked in the Lineups power rankings for the first time this season.
24. Marquette 16-6
Marquette has won five of their last six games, and are now 6-4 in the Big East after their win over DePaul this weekend. They have been battle tested the last three games, so it should be interesting to see how the play against Butler next weekend.
25. BYU 17-7
BYU is in second place in the West Coast Conference standings. They knocked off St. Mary’s at home this weekend, and find themselves in the power rankings for the first time this season.
