Another crazy week of college hoops is in the books. The top-5 remained unchanged as the nations best teams took care of business over the last seven days. Here are this weeks college basketball power rankings.
1. Gonzaga 25-1
Gonzaga put up one of the best offensive performances on Saturday. They dominated St. Mary’s from start to finish, and beat their conference rival 90-60. The Bulldogs don’t seem like they’ll be stopped by anyone this season.
2. Baylor 22-1
Baylor continue their dominance as they move to 22-1 on the season after their win against Texas on Monday. The Bears keep taking care of business. However, they still have two meetings with West Virginia, and games against Kansas and Texas Tech.
3. Kansas 20-3
Kansas took care of TCU on the road this weekend while going to 9-1 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks have another big test on Wednesday when they travel to West Virginia. Let’s see if they can hold off a Mountaineers team looking for revenge.
4. San Diego State 24-0
San Diego State continues to win games after beating Air Force this weekend. The Aztecs have five regular season games left, and are projected to beat all of their opponents by six or more points.
5. Louisville 21-3
Louisville won both of their matchups this week beating Wake Forest on Wednesday and Virginia on Saturday. The Cardinals have won 10 games in a row, and still remain atop of the ACC standings. They still have seven regular season games remaining.
6. Dayton 21-2
Dayton held off Saint Louis in a revenge spot over the weekend. The Flyers are one of five teams that have two losses or less on the season. They continue to wreak havoc on the Atlantic-10 and don’t seem to struggle with anyone.
7. Duke 21-3
Duke knocked off in-state rival North Carolina on Saturday, which was one of the best college basketball games of the season. Then, they came back home and took care of business against Florida State. The Blue Devils have won six in a row.
8. Auburn 21-2
Auburn has been incredible in the clutch over their last four games. Three of the four wins came in overtime, and they beat Kentucky in regulation. The Tigers luck has been incredible, but let’s see if it can continue.
9. Florida State 20-4
The Seminoles couldn’t find a way past Duke on the road on Monday. Florida State has played very good basketball this season, so the loss shouldn’t hurt them a ton moving forward. They’re still one of the best 10 teams in the country.
10. Maryland 19-4
Maryland has won six straight games, and is now in first place of the Big Ten. They secured a huge win against Illinois last Friday, and hope to continue the winning streak against Nebraska before heading to Michigan State.
11. Seton Hall 18-5
Seton Hall picked up another huge win in the Big East this weekend. They took down Villanova on the road to move too 10-1 in conference play. The Pirates have won 12 of their last 13 games, and look to continue momentum.
12. Kentucky 18-5
Kentucky secured wins in both of their matchups last week to help them move up to 12th in the power rankings. The Wildcats are now in a three-way tie for first place with LSU and Auburn in the SEC.
13. Colorado 19-5
Colorado has won three in a row as their stock is rising quickly. They took care of Cal and Stanford last week to move to 19-5 on the season. The Buffaloes sit alone atop of the Pac-12 at 8-3.
14. West Virginia 18-5
West Virginia couldn’t avoid the lookahead spot against Oklahoma over the weekend. The Mountaineers now sit at 6-4 in the Big 12. They’ll have a chance to makeup some ground on Kansas this Wednesday.
15. Villanova 17-6
Villanova has now lost three straight games. With this, they find themselves in a three-way tie for second place with Creighton and Marquette. They’ll have a chance to get ahead of Marquette with their matchup on Wednesday.
16. Iowa 17-7
After an impressive performance against Illinois on February 2, they played their worst game of the season against Purdue. They suffered a 104-68 loss in West Lafayette, but were able to rebound nicely against Nebraska.
17. Oregon 18-6
Oregon has yet to win a game in February. Now, they’ve only played two, but they have lost back to back games against Stanford and Oregon State. The Ducks need to figure things out before they start to freefall.
18. Marquette 17-6
Marquette has won six of their last seven games, and are starting to heat up at the right time. The Golden Eagles have been playing great basketball thanks to Marcus Howard. They’ll have a chance to sweep Villanova on Wednesday.
19. Butler 18-6
Butler has struggled tremendously as of recent. The Bulldogs have now lost three of their last five games, and were dominated by Marquette on the road. Let’s see if they can bounce back against Xavier this week.
20. BYU 19-7
BYU finds themselves in second place of the West Coast Conference. This is pretty impressive for the Cougars considering Gonzaga is the top team out west. They continue to win and have another shot at Gonzaga.
21. Penn State 18-5
After the three games losing skid Penn State found themselves on, they have won six straight. Also, the Nittany Lions are tied for second in the Big Ten standings with Illinois. Their remaining schedule somewhat favorable too.
22. Houston 19-5
Houston is coming off a dominating performance against Wichita State on Sunday. They also knocked off Tulane last Thursday, which helped put them back into first place in the American conference.
23. Illinois 16-7
Illinois is starting to slip as they go through their gauntlet of a schedule. They have now lost back to back games, and have Michigan State, Rutgers, and Penn State on the horizon. Let’s see how they manage this stretch.
24. Texas Tech 15-8
Texas Tech is back in the power rankings thanks to wins over Oklahoma and Texas this past week. The Red Raiders have yet to find consistency this season and haven’t won more than two straight games in conference play.
25. LSU 17-6
LSU struggled over the last week with a loss to Vanderbilt, and then a complete meltdown against Auburn over the weekend. The Tigers are still towards the top of the SEC standings, but they need to regroup quickly.
