With fantasy playoffs underway, tight end might be a dreaded position for you still. We saw Hunter Henry dud out last week, and the Cardinals once again allowed a TE1 to perform against them. Jack Doyle also came back to fantasy relevance. Injuries continue to hit the position hard. Evan Engram and Austin Hooper remain questionable, while Gerald Everett and Greg Olsen will be as well. TJ Hockenson and Delanie Walker hit the IR, but David Njoku should be returning from IR this week or next. We will get down to the top tight end options to pick up for this week. To win those fantasy football leagues, you are going to have to win the waiver wire as well. You can find the top tight ends to pick up by rank for this upcoming week.

Jack Doyle – Indianapolis Colts
There are a few tight ends in this category to pick up up in shallow leagues, or leagues where people have missed out on names like Vance McDonald, Kyle Rudolph and Jack Doyle. McDonald is more a pick up for this week against Arizona, who have allowed the most fantasy points per game. In fact all three of these names are in prime spots, as the Buccaneers are allowing the second most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, and the Lions are allowing the 8th most. But, back to Doyle. He is coming off of a season high 11 targets with Hilton and Ebron out. He caught six of them for 73 yards and a score. The Colts are throwing 31% of the time to tight ends this season, and while that won’t continue due to Ebron dropping off, but Doyle will continue to get a ton of targets.
Mike Gesicki – Miami Dolphins
Mike Gesicki is coming off of another strong game, and will face the Jets, Giants, and Bengals over the next three games. He has seen six or more targets in the last five weeks, and has double-digit PPR point games in three of the last five. Over those five games, he is second in air yards (311), only to Kelce. He has also seen just three less targets than him in that span. Gesicki has scored the 6th most fantasy points since Week 9 at the position, and his ownership does not reflect that. The next few weeks the Dolphins will be able to air it out, as they will face the 31st, 30th, and 21st ranked defenses against the pass. Sign me up here.
David Njoku – Cleveland Browns
If you can stash David Njoku until after this week, he should be ready to go by then. His health is trending upwards, and he will help out this Browns offense. Targets will be up and down, but he has some plus matchups against Cincinnati and Arizona coming up that can make him a decent flyer. Njoku found good chemistry with Baker Mayfield last season, posting a 56-639-4 line over 16 games. This was of course without Odell Beckham. Njoku is an extremely talented tight end, and deserves a look over the remaining few weeks. I am still holding out hope that he gets to play the next few weeks, especially in Week 15 against the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends.

Dallas Goedert – Philadelphia Eagles
Dallas Goedert is an even better pickup before because of Zach Ertz’s hamstring issue. While Ertz played, he was not 100%, and hamstring injuries can easily knock him out a few weeks moving forward. The Eagles are throwing to tight ends 36% of the time, mainly because their wide receiver core is Alshon Jeffery and nothing more. Since the bye week, he has seen 21 targets in three games. He has double-digit fantasy points in five of the last seven games. In the last five, he has 26 targets and 43.3 PPR points. He is still hovering around 40% owned around the industry, although deeper leagues he likely gone.
Ryan Griffin – New York Jets
While the New York Jets put up a dud against the Bengals, shame on me for putting any trust that they could be consistent against bad passing defenses. Ryan Griffin had seven targets however, catching five of them for 30 yards. He has been somewhat of a boom or bust option, but that remains the case with most of the tight ends left out there now. Griffin has the seventh most PPR points at the position since Week 9, and sits with 24 targets in that span. He should continue to get 4-5 targets a game moving forward, and also have that touchdown upside.
Tyler Higbee – Los Angeles Rams
If Gerald Everett is out again, Tyler Higbee can capitalize on another strong matchup. The Seahawks are allowing the 4th most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, and have allowed the third most catches (77). We continue to see tight ends have strong games against them, and while there are a lot of weapons on the Rams side, Higbee could be a focal point this week again. He saw eight targets, and had a 7-107-1 line. It does just continue to show that you can start most tight ends against this Cardinals team and they will come out on top.
