Another crazy week in the NFL. San Francisco and New Orleans might have the been the game of the year so far. Kansas City finally got revenge on New England, and Tennessee is making a run at an AFC playoff spot. Here are this week NFL power rankings.
1. 49ers 11-2
The 49ers pulled off a nearly impossible task in going to the Super Dome and putting up 48 points. Saints and 49ers was probably the game of the year at this point, and San Francisco now holds the top spot in the NFC playoffs, for now.
2. Ravens 11-2
Baltimore was in a bit of a slop fest against Buffalo on Sunday. The struggled to close out the Bills, but ultimately got it done. The now have a game on the Patriots for the number 1-seed in the AFC playoff race.
3. Packers 10-3
This wasn’t the prettiest win for Green Bay, but they got it done at home. They still hold a lead over the Vikings for the NFC North, and have an important game against Chicago next week. We’ll see if the Packers are for real or not these next two weeks.
4. Saints 10-3
A tough finish for the Saints on Sunday as they lost to San Francisco 48-46. Quarterback Drew Brees drove New Orleans down field to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, but the 49ers answered as George Kittle literally put the team on his back. The Saints might not have home-field this season.
5. Seahawks 10-3
Seattle suffered a tough loss in Los Angeles as they now fell a game behind San Francisco for the NFC West, and the number 1-seed in the NFC. They still have two winnable games before facing the 49ers in week 17 for the division and home-field advantage.
6. Patriots 10-3
New England fell to Kansas City at home on Sunday. The Patriots have lost three games to AFC playoff teams, and losses back to back weeks, in December! New England is still 10-3, but they have holes that need to be fixed before January.
7. Chiefs 9-4
The Chiefs finally got passed big bad New England! The went on the road and won a huge game for the organization. Kansas City got off to somewhat of slow start this season because of Pat Mahomes injuries, but will turn it on in the most important month of the season.
8. Vikings 9-4
Minnesota wins convincingly at home against Detroit this past week. They stay ahead of the Rams and Bears for the sixth seed in the NFC. They close the season out with the Chargers, Packers, and Bears in what should be a fun finish in the NFC North.
9. Bills 9-4
Buffalo didn’t get the win over Baltimore on Sunday, but they’re starting to show how good they can be. After feasting on a weak schedule, the go to Dallas on Thanksgiving and secure a win. Then, they almost upset the Ravens at home, and proved they can hang with anyone.
10. Texans 8-5
After beating the Patriots at home, Houston loses to Denver at home 38-24. This Texans team is hard to figure out as they can beat some of the best teams in the NFL, but then lose to teams that are no longer in playoff contention.
11. Rams 8-5
What a big win the Rams received on Sunday night. The beat the Seahawks at home to stay one game behind the Vikings for the sixth seed in the NFC. They finish off the season with Dallas, San Francisco, and Arizona to hopefully secure the final playoff spot.
12. Titans 8-5
Tennessee has been on an incredible run as of late winning their last four games. The change from Marcus Mariotta to Ryan Tannehill has proved wonders for this team as they sit at 8-5. They are tied with Houston for first in the AFC South and play them twice in the last three weeks.
13. Steelers 8-5
Pittsburgh has won three games in a row with Duck Hodges under center. The Steelers continue to win games and currently hold the sixth seed in the AFC. Mike Tomlin deserves a ton of credit for how they’ve performed this year.
14. Bears 7-6
Don’t look now, but the Bears have won four of their last five. Their playoff odds are at three percent, but if they run the table in December, they could sneak in as the sixth team in the NFC. Highly unlikely as they have the toughest December schedule, but they have hope.
15. Cowboys 6-7
What a mess Dallas is right now, and the still hold the top spot in the NFC East. There’s a scenario where the Cowboys could finish 6-10 and win the division. With how the whole NFC East has played this season, the winner could be 7-9 and host a playoff game.
16. Raiders 6-7
Jon Gruden finds his team slipping these last few weeks. After having an outside shot of making the playoffs, the Raiders have now lost three in a row. Poor Chucky.
17. Bucs 6-7
Tampa Bay has won three in a row after a dismal start to their season. A chance at the playoffs is very unlikely, but it’s a nice way to finish for Bucs fans.
18. Colts 6-7
The Colts continue to play themselves out of playoff contention. They now sit at 6-7 and two games back of the Texans and Titans for the AFC South.
19. Browns 6-7
As dismal as this season has been for Cleveland, they still have an outside chance of making the playoffs, They’ll just need to win out against Arizona, Baltimore, and Cincinnati.
20. Eagles 5-7
The Eagles are fighting with the Cowboys for the worst divisional winner this season. A win over the Giants on Monday night will keep them on pace with Dallas.
21. Chargers 5-8
The Chargers should finish their season strong. Although they aren’t going to make the playoffs, this team still has a bright future. A new quarterback might be needed though. Philip Rivers doesn’t seem to have it anymore.
22. Panthers 5-8
After firing Ron Rivera, Carolina fell to Atlanta 40-20. Carolina needs to find new direction now under a new head coach, and will start by looking for a new quarterback. Cam Newton most likely is done in Carolina.
23. Broncos 5-8
Denver had an impressive win over the Texans this Sunday. Vic Fangio has had this team play competitively all season despite their record. If the Broncos can get a quarterback, then they could be a dark horse in the AFC moving forward.
24. Jets 5-8
The Jets beat the Dolphins in a game where 10 field goals were made. As sloppy as the Jets season has been, they find themselves at 5-8.
25. Falcons 4-9
Atlanta took care of Carolina at home on Sunday. The Falcons season has been a mess, but it seems like they have been playing better down the stretch.
26. Cardinals 3-9-1
Arizona had that nice stretch earlier this season, but have lost six in a row. Kyler Murray needs help, and Kliff Kingsbury might not be a good NFL head coach.
27. Lions 3-9-1
Detroit can’t do anything right with their quarterback situation. This team is a mess and is need of an overhaul yet again.
28. Jaguars 4-9
Well, the Jaguars have quit on this season. Since Jalen Ramsey’s departure, it doesn’t seem like anything has gone right in Jacksonville.
29. Redskins 3-10
Washington has played better since starting Dwayne Haskins at quarterback. This organization has hope for the future.
30. Dolphins 3-10
The Dolphins almost won their fourth game this season, and twice and against the Jets. Alas, it didn’t happen and they tank is still on.
31. Giants 2-10
The bad news, the Giants are a mess this season and need an impactful draft in 2020. The good news, Eli Manning returns Monday night against the Eagles. At least there’s that.
32. Bengals 1-12
The Bengals need to lose out to get the number one pick in the 2020 draft. There’s a good chance this happens.
