Week 17 TE Waiver Pickups & Adds: Tyler Higbee Gets Arizona At Home

With the regular season just one week away from ending, we are down to the final meeting for those still in fantasy playoffs. Zach Ertz suffered a rib injury last week and is questionable for this week. Dallas Goedert would step into a lot more targets. Mark Andrews should see some rest for the Ravens this week given they have clinched up the one seed in the AFC. Evan Engram hit the IR finally, and despite Gerald Everett coming back, Tyler Higbee is the Rams best passing catching option at the position still. As far as overall scoring goes, we are looking at Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz, Andrews, Darren Waller, and George Kittle has the top scoring names. It was a down year for the position, but it should be a bounce back year in 2020. Keep an eye out on some breakout articles for those looking to get an early start. To win those fantasy football leagues, you are going to have to win the waiver wire as well. You can find the top tight ends to pick up by rank for this upcoming week.

Week 17 TE Waiver Wire Pickups

Player Team Week 16 Opponent Ownership % FAAB
Jacob Hollister Seattle Seahawks ARI 45% $5
Dallas Goedert Philadelphia Eagles DAL 43% $3
Tyler Higbee Los Angeles Rams @SF 33% $4
OJ Howard Tampa Bay Buccaneers HOU 40% $3
Noah Fant Denver Broncos DET 22% $2
Jonnu Smith Tennessee Titans NO 14% $1

Jacob Hollister – Seattle Seahawks

Jacob Hollister continues to see a decent workload as the starting tight end, and posted one of his two 20 fantasy point games against San Francisco earlier this season. Since the bye week he has seen 27 targets in those five games. Hollister should continue to flirt around 5-6 targets a game. Over the last five weeks the 49ers have allowed the 5th most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. Hollister will be able to string another positive game in a good matchup. He has averaged 7.7 fantasy points per game in the last five weeks, which is TE14 in comparison to the position.

oj howardO.J. Howard – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

While O.J. Howard hasn’t found the end zone of late, he has seen 28 targets over the last five weeks. Some of that has to do with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin being out. This puts up a ton of targets for the taking. Apparently it took that this whole season for Howard to get some looks. In this span he has posted a 17-236 line averaging 8.1 PPR points per game. Howard gets Atlanta this week, who have allowed 12.5 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. It is not a bad spot for Howard in a potential Week 17 shootout.

Tyler Higbee – Los Angeles Rams

The Rams will take on Arizona this week, which puts Tyler Higbee in a good spot to have yet another 100+ yard receiving game. He is second to George Kittle in the last five weeks for fantasy points at the tight end position. He has seen 50 targets in that span, posting a 40-458-1 line. He is averaging 18.4 fantasy points per game. Arizona we know by know is the dream matchup for tight ends. They have posted an 89-1087-15 line against them this season.

dallas goedertDallas Goedert – Philadelphia Eagles

Zach Ertz is questionable for Week 17, which would give a bump to Dallas Goedert if he did miss, however Goedert still has plenty of value on his own if Ertz does give it a go. Philadelphia take on the Giants this week, who have allowed the 4th most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. Goedert ranks TE9 over the last five weeks, and has seen 39 targets in that span. He has posted a 30-285-1 line in those five games, averaging 12.9 fantasy points per game.

Noah Fant – Denver Broncos

Noah Fant has seen just 17 targets in the past five weeks which is not ideal, and especially since his fantasy production came in about one game. I still like Fant better with Drew Lock under center, and this is about the matchup more than anything. Oakland’s defense has allowed 13.9 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season, which is the 8th most. They have allowed nine double-digit fantasy point scorers at the position this season, and Fant could make it ten on the year.

Jonnu Smith – Tennessee Titans

Jonnu Smith has been a big play guy, with 46.3 fantasy points over the last five games. A lot of that has come over the last three weeks, where he has posted 11, 16, and 15 fantasy point games in some plus matchups. Houston is one, and he can capitalize again here. They have allowed the 10th most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. Over the last five weeks they have allowed a 28-432-2 to tight ends.
