Week 17 can always be tricky, especially with teams starting to rest players and injuries piling up. Waiver wires will be there for those still competing so some higher owned players might still be out there, but I will still focus on names mostly lower owned outside of one. Over the course of the week things could change if teams decide to rest players, which would open up some opportunity for others. Baltimore and Houston are two teams that have locked up their seed already. To win those fantasy football leagues, you are going to have to win the waiver wire as well. You can find the top wide receivers to pick up by rank for this upcoming week.
Week 17 WR Waiver Wire Pickups
Breshad Perriman – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Breshad Perriman is the highest owned name listed here, just for the sake of if he is still out there in more shallower leagues. He saw 12 targets against Houston, and posted a 7-102-0 line. He has seen six targets in each of the last three games before that. Perriman continues to be a beast, and Evans and Godwin won’t be returning this season. That means Perriman will continue to see higher amount of targets. It is also not a bad spot for him, as Atlanta ranks 25th in DVOA against the pass.
Anthony Miller – Chicago Bears
Anthony Miller picked the wrong week to put up a dud, but only saw just two targets. The Chiefs were a tough matchup, and the volume was down as the Bears had zero offense at all. Minnesota is on the Week 17 schedule for Miller, who have allowed the 7th most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Miller’s targets have fluctuated, but for the most part has seen larger targets. He has seen 11, 9, 13, 4, 15, and 2 over the last five weeks. Miller is currently WR50 on the season, which most of his production came in the last few weeks.
Greg Ward – Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles still need to win Week 17, and Greg Ward is still going to be a popular target given the circumstances. He tallied a 4-71-0 line on five targets against the Cowboys, and saw 28 targets in the prior four weeks. It is a tremendous matchup for Ward in Week 17, as the Giants have allowed the fourth most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. We also need to watch if Zach Ertz is out, where we could really see a tick up for Ward in the target department.

John Ross – Cincinnati Bengals
John Ross saw a whopping 13 targets, and also had two carries. He caught six balls for 84 yards, and could have had a much bigger day. Ross looked back up to full speed and also the healthy target share helps. He will see Cleveland in Week 17, which is a meaningless game. If Ross can continue with this volume, we are looking at a solid Week 17 outlook. Ross’ season was derailed by injuries, and he was looking to have a strong year. He had 445 air yards on 38 targets, and 76 PPR points in just a few games.
Justin Watson – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out, Justin Watson saw ten targets last week, and has seen 20 over the last three weeks. Watson has posted two touchdowns in the last three weeks, and has taken advantage of some weaker secondaries. Atlanta is not a strong one, who rank 25th in DVOA against the pass, and wide receivers have posted some decent scores. This game also could be a massive shootout as most Buccaneers games tend to be. Watson has 142 air yards on 12 targets, and his average depth of target is 11.8.
Cole Beasley – Buffalo Bills
Cole Beasley has seen 9, 7, 7, 6, and 12 targets over the last five weeks. He gets the Jets in Week 17, which is a solid matchup, who have allowed the 9th most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. Beasley is a better PPR player of course than standard format leagues, but with this volume his floor is pretty stable. Beasley is currently sitting with 163 PPR points this season, and has posted 60 receptions. His target share is over 20% in Buffalo, which is second to John Brown
