Conference Tournament action kicks off this week for the Big Six conferences. The bubble is getting tighter, and tickets are getting punched to the big dance. Here is this weeks College Basketball Power Rankings.
1. Kansas 28-3
Kansas finishes the regular season on a 16-game winning streak, and will be the number on seed in the Big 12 tournament. The Jayhawks are the favorite to cut down the nets with how well they have played over the last two months.
2. Gonzaga 30-2
Gonzaga took care of business Monday night against San Francisco. The Bulldogs are back in the West Coast Conference Tournament Finals, and will have to knock off St. Mary’s to secure a tournament bid.
3. Dayton 29-2
Dayton finished undefeated in the Atlantic-10 going a perfect 18-0. The Flyers have yet to lose in 2020, and are poised to earn a spot as a two seed in the March Madness tournament. They’re one of the best mid-majors in the country.
4. Duke 25-6
Duke rebounded nicely this week with wins over NC State and rival North Carolina. The Blue Devils will be the two seed in the ACC tournament with a 15-5 conference record. They will look to continue their reign.
5. Kentucky 25-6
Kentucky finished the regular season with a win over Florida on Saturday. They went 15-3 in the SEC and will have the number one seed in their conference tournament. The Wildcats should take care of business this week.
6. San Diego State 30-2
San Diego State fell to Utah State in the Mountain West Final over the weekend. The Aztecs dropped two games late in the season, which could ultimately make them a two seed in the March Madness tournament.
7. Baylor 26-4
Baylor lost three of their last five games of the season, including their loss at West Virginia over the weekend. The Bears are 15-3 in the Big 12, and will hold the two seed during their tournament.
8. Oregon 24-7
Oregon finished the season as the Pac-12 regular season champs, and will have the one seed in the conference tournament. They finished on a four game winning streak, which could help build some momentum going into this week.
9. Florida State 26-5
Florida State took care of business this week to finish 16-4 in the ACC regular season. The Seminoles will have the one seed during the ACC Tournament this week, where they should make it to Saturday.
10. Michigan State 22-9
Michigan State may very well have everything figured out the way they finished the season. They went on a five-game winning streak with wins over Iowa, Maryland, Penn State, and Ohio State. The Spartans are ready for March.
11. Villanova 24-7
Villanova won their last two games of the regular season, and are tied for first place with Creighton, and Seton Hall in the Big East. The Wildcats will hold the two seed in the conference tournament this week.
12. Louisville 24-7
Louisville has slipped up a bit losing two of their last three games to finish the season. The Cardinals finished 15-5 in the ACC, and will be the three seed in the conference tournament this week.
13. Creighton 24-7
Creighton knocked off Seton Hall on Saturday to clinch the number one seed in the Big East Conference Tournament. They also will get a share of the Big East title for finishing in first place.
14. Seton Hall 21-9
All Seton Hall had to do this week was win one game against Villanova or Creighton to win the Big East regular season title. They failed to do so, and finished third in the conference behind Villanova and Creighton.
15. Maryland 24-7
Maryland will share the Big Ten regular season title with Michigan State and Wisconsin with all three teams finishing 14-6 in conference. The Terrapins will have the three seed this week for the Big Ten Tournament.
16. Virginia 23-7
Don’t look now, but Virginia has figured things out over the last month of the season. They ended ACC play on an eight game winning streak, and are the three seed in the conference tournament.
17. Wisconsin 21-10
Wisconsin received a share of the Big Ten regular season title after being tied with Michigan State and Maryland for it. They do have the number one seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which should help them get too Sunday.
18. BYU 24-8
BYU couldn’t get the job done Monday night in the West Coast Conference Tournament against St. Mary’s they fell in the semi-finals, and will now wait to see where they are seeded for the March Madness Tournament.
19. Iowa 20-11
Iowa struggled down the stretch of Big Ten play losing three of their last four conference games. The Hawkeyes split the season series with Illinois, but should get their chance at them again on Friday.
20. Ohio State 21-10
Ohio State could be a dark horse heading into the Big Ten tournament this week. The Buckeyes are rated number eight, according to Ken Pom, and have won four of their last five conference games. They take on Purdue this Thursday.
21. Auburn 25-6
Auburn took a step back this week after falling to Texas A&M at home. They did take care of Tennessee to finish off their season, and will have the two seed in the SEC Tournament this week. Let’s see if Bruce Pearl can get it done.
22. Houston 23-8
After Houston fell to UConn this week, the rebounded against Memphis on Sunday. The Cougars did tie with Tulsa and Cincinnati for first place in the AAC, and have received the two seed in the conference tournament.
23. Illinois 21-10
Illinois took care of business against Iowa on Sunday to secure a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament. They’ll play on Friday, and will most likely see Iowa again for the third time this season.
24. West Virginia 21-10
After losing six of seven games last month, West Virginia bounced back and beat Iowa State and Baylor to finish off Big 12 play. The Mountaineers will take on Oklahoma in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.
25. Butler 22-9
Butler finished off the season going 10-8 in the Big East. The Bulldogs will take on Providence in the second round of the Big East Tournament. Let’s see if this Butler squad can make another miracle run.
