There are less than 10 teams that remain undefeated this college basketball season. Things are starting shape up as teams head into conference play in what is looking like one of the most wide open college basketball fields we’ve seen in recent history. Here are this weeks college basketball power rankings.
1. Kansas 8-1
The Jayhawks find themselves as the number one rated team in the Lineups Power Rankings. The way this season has been going, it might not last long.
2. Kentucky 7-1
Kentucky will finish off their non-conference schedule with Georgia Tech, Utah, Ohio State, and Louisville. We’ll get to see what this team is made of going into conference play.
3. Ohio State 9-0
The Buckeyes continue to win convincingly. They knocked off North Carolina last week 74-49, and beat Penn State 106-74. Ohio State is the real deal on both sides of the ball and continue to be led by Kaleb Wesson.
4. Louisville 9-1
Louisville suffers their first loss of the season to Texas Tech. They fell to a respectable team that will be making a run come March. Don’t let that fool you.
5. Gonzaga 10-1
Gonzaga has bounced back nicely after losing to Michigan in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament a few weeks ago. They added an impressive win over Washington to their resume this week.
6. Virginia 8-1
The Cavilers suffered their first loss of the season to Purdue last week. They allowed the Boilermakers to score 69 points, but did rebound against North Carolina in ACC play.
7. Duke 9-1
The Blue Devils start conference play with a victory over Virginia Tech. They have two game remaining against non-conference opponents, who they should take care of.
8. Michigan 8-1
After only scoring 43 points in their loss to Louisville last week, Michigan bounced back and put up over 100 points on Iowa to go 1-0 in conference.
9. Auburn 8-0
Auburn remains as one of the few unbeaten teams remaining in college basketball. They were taken to overtime against Furman, but were able to hold them for their eighth win.
10. Maryland 10-1
Maryland survived a scare at home this weekend after coming back on Illinois to win 59-58. They fell to Penn State on the road in their next game. What chaos this season is becoming.
11. Baylor 8-1
Baylor has been off to a great start with wins over Villanova, Arizona, and now Butler. Jared Butler has been the teams best player to this point and a big reason why they’re 8-1.
12. Oregon 7-2
The Ducks bounced back against Hawaii for their seventh win of the season. The snapped a two game losing streak, which happened to be against Gonzaga and North Carolina.
13. Michigan State 6-3
Sparty’s three losses come against Kentucky, Virginia Tech, and Duke, which aren’t terrible. However, they did have problems closing out Rutgers, which will be a problem against better teams.
14. Memphis 8-1
Only eight more games remain until James Wiseman can come back and play for Memphis. They have been playing well without him, but will be tested this weekend against Tennessee.
15. Dayton 7-1
Dayton continue to roll through their opponents as the beat St. Mary’s by 10 earlier this week. The Fliers have one of the most efficient offenses in the country.
16. Arizona 9-1
The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season to Baylor over the weekend. Arizona was on a tear before this, and will be tested again in the upcoming weeks.
17. North Carolina 6-3
What is going on in Chapel Hill? The Tar Heels have lost three of their last four and haven’t found any success in their shooting of late. They rank 304th in effective field goal percentage.
18. Butler 9-1
Butler was the third undefeated team to go down on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have had a great start to the season, but couldn’t get it done at Baylor.
19. Florida State 8-2
The Seminoles have the week off before getting back into action. They did suffer a road loss to Indiana, but did pick up their first conference win over Clemson the following game.
20. Seton Hall 6-3
After beating Iowa State in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, they head to Aimes, Iowa and lose to the cyclone on their home court. They have three more games before conference games begin.
21. Villanova 7-2
Villanova has won three straight games after losing early season matchups to Baylor and Ohio State. They’ll be tested again in a few weeks against Kansas.
22. Tennessee 7-1
The Volunteers find themselves sitting at 7-1 on the season with Memphis and Cincinnati on the horizon. Let’s see if they can continue to find wins.
23. Xavier 9-1
After Xavier knocked off Cincinnati in their big rivalry win, head coach Travis Steele went to one of the local bars and paid for everyone’s round. What a coach.
24. San Diego State 10-0
San Diego State has been playing incredible basketball this season and have wins over BYU, Creighton, and Iowa already. They should continue to impress the rest of this season.
25. Arkansas 8-1
Arkansas suffered their first loss of the season to Western Kentucky in overtime on Saturday. They allowed 86 points in the loss, but their defense should rebound just fine.
