Sinner Marginally Favored To Defeat Alcaraz In French Open Final
Per the Alcaraz-Sinner odds board listed above, Sinner is a slim favorite (-115) after opening at -105. By converting the current odds to implied probability, he has a 53.5% chance of winning the 2025 French Open.
In the first of Friday’s semifinal matches, the defending champion advanced after Lorenzo Musetti retired in the fourth set. Alcaraz was ahead 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0, 2-0 when the eighth-seeded Italian was unable to continue on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Musetti required treatment for a thigh injury toward the end of the third set and again before the fourth.
Shortly after, Sinner took care of Novak Djokovic in straight sets: 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 (3). The world No. 1 punched his ticket to his first Roland Garros final. He hasn’t dropped a set all tournament, winning 20 consecutive matches and 29 consecutive sets in Grand Slams. The 23-year-old Sinner also became the youngest player to reach three consecutive men’s singles finals at Grand Slams since Pete Sampras (1994).
When the two heavyweights squared off in the Italian Open final on May 18, Sinner notched two break points to win Set 1 but failed to cash in on either of them. TennisViz and Tennis Data Innovations also scored Sinner with his second-lowest forehand Shot Quality (7.6) since the beginning of 2024.
Alcaraz, the second seed in the tournament, leads their head-to-head series (7-4) and has emerged victorious in four straight against Sinner, dating back to last season.
