Best Week 17 NFL Player Props for Sunday

The NFL Week 17 schedule has already kicked off with two games on Christmas and one on Thursday night, and there are three more games on Saturday before the action really heats up with a nine-game slate on Sunday.

We’re focusing on Sunday to find our five best Week 17 NFL player props to consider in those games, with a couple of options to take on the over, under, or to consider using in a same-game parlay at your favorite sportsbook apps

Jayden Reed Week 17 Player Prop Bet (GB @ MIN)

Over 50.5 receiving yards: Over -125

  • The Packers have gone run-heavy during a five-game winning streak that has featured a number of easy wins. That trend should stop this Sunday against a 13-2 Vikings squad that forces opposing offenses to attack through the air. The Vikings have faced the highest pass-play rate (64.7%) in the NFL and have allowed the second-most air yards along with the fifth-most yards after catch. Reed is fourth among wide receivers in yards per target (11.4) and is creating separation at the second-highest rate per target. Jordan Love is posting a 142.4 passer rating when targeting Reed. With Christian Watson (knee) questionable, Reed is in a great position to follow up on his 74-yard performance last Monday night, which snapped a five-game streak of quiet games in mostly run-heavy scripts.

Jonnu Smith Week 17 Player Prop Bet (MIA @ CLE)

Over 47.5 receiving yards: Over -115

  • The Dolphins are playing in their first cold game since they lost in Green Bay on Thanksgiving. Miami has struggled to push the ball downfield regardless of the weather, but Mike McDaniel’s offense could be even more conservative while playing in a cold rain. Smith has been one of the primary beneficiaries of a shallow passing attack, as he’s averaging 7.2 catches for 75.8 yards over his last six games, including 113 yards on that cold night in Green Bay. He’s second among tight ends in yards after catch and third in yards per route run with a 33% target share in that six-game span. The Browns are generating pressure at the third-highest rate this season, so Tua Tagovailoa should keep getting the ball out of his hands quickly to his tight end.

Aidan O’Connell Week 17 Player Prop Bet (LV @ NO)

Under 233.5 passing + rushing yards: Under -115 on BetMGM

  • The Saints were embarrassed last week and will seek to bounce back with a strong effort at home. O’Connell topped this prop against Jacksonville’s league-worst pass defense but has consistently come up short of this number due to his turnover issues and lack of arm strength. He ranks 35th among quarterbacks in expected points added and 30th in yards per attempt. He tallied 12 of his 18 rushing yards for the season in that plus matchup against Jacksonville. The Saints have been solid defending tight ends, and Brock Bowers is by far the Raiders’ most dangerous receiving option. If the Raiders have success running the ball against the Saints, as many opponents have, we could see low passing volume from O’Connell.

Calvin Ridley Week 16 Player Prop Bet (TEN @ JAX)

Over 60.5 receiving yards: Over -120

  • In Ridley’s first opportunity to get revenge on his last team, he caught seven of 12 targets for 59 yards while Will Levis struggled to 168 yards. Now he’s working with Mason Rudolph, who has been much more reliable with a 73.3% completion rate over his last two starts. Ridley averaged 108 yards per game while drawing 23 targets in Rudolph’s two starts midway through the season against the Lions and Patriots. He leads the NFL in deep targets and air yards per game and is facing a Jaguars secondary that has given up the most deep passes in the NFL.

Adam Thielen Week 17 Player Prop Bet (CAR @ TB)

Over 54.5 receiving yards:Over -110 on DraftKings

  • There are some juicy matchups for players on both sides of this NFC South clash, with Carolina’s porous run defense matching up against a Bucs secondary that has been routinely punished for big plays. The Bucs are allowing the highest percentage (81%) of opponent yards via the pass over their last three games, and they have coughed up the second-most passing yards per game (250.3) overall. Thielen scorched this secondary to the tune of eight catches for 99 yards and a touchdown, and the veteran is averaging six catches for 70.4 yards over his last five starts with a resurgent Bryce Young back under center. Young looks for Thielen in critical situations and has established a great rapport with the veteran. Xavier Legette (hip/wrist) is questionable, and Thielen has been removed from the injury report after practicing in limited fashion with a hamstring issue.
