Philadelphia Eagles vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Philadelphia Eagles (1-2-1) will take on cross-state rival Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) this Sunday at 1 PM EST. The Eagles are coming off of their first win of the season last week when they upset the San Francisco 49ers 25-20. Pittsburgh is coming off a week off after their game against the Tennessee Titans was postponed due to the Titans having some positive COVID tests.
The Eagles now lead the lowly NFC East after getting their first win of the season. In their first three games, turnovers were a huge issue for the Eagles. Although Wentz threw his seventh interception of the season, the Eagles still put together an all-around solid performance against a banged-up 49ers team.
The Philadelphia offense has struggled all season, ranking 28th in total yards and 26th in points. Their defense has been a fairly solid unit. Despite ranking 20th in points allowed, the Eagles are 10th in total yards allowed, ninth against the pass, 12th against the rush, and fifth on third down.
The Steelers are 3-0 and getting a lot of hype on the defensive end. However, it is worth noting that their opponent’s combined record is just 1-11. They snuck out a win against the now 0-4 New York Giants, edged out a 26-21 win against a back-up QB in Denver, and mounted a comeback win against a struggling 0-4 Houston Texans team that just fired their head coach.
While the Pittsburgh defense is a good group, they have yet to be tested by an actual contender this season. This game this week against the Eagles won’t exactly be their toughest test this season but it will be their most difficult thus far. Pittsburgh’s offense is ranking just 20th in passing and 20th on third-down conversion. They are 14th in total yards and 12th in points scored. Defensively, the Steelers are excellent in almost every aspect, except they are surprisingly having trouble getting off of the field on third down (19th).
A questionable Steelers’ offense against a solid Eagles’ defense, this game has the making up a close and low-scoring matchup. The Eagles have allowed a lot of points due to their offense putting them in tough spots with so many turnovers. While the Steelers’ defense is good at forcing turnovers, look for the Eagles to take better care of the ball in this game. With a full touchdown to work with, the Eagles are the best bet in this game.
