BetMGM Partners With Charlotte Motor Speedway For North Carolina Sports Betting Access

BetMGM Sportsbook Online will now have access to the North Carolina sports betting market thanks to a new deal with Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This announcement was made as the North Carolina sports wagering market gets closer to fully launching. Charlotte Motor Speedway stands as a historic venue in the Tar Heel State, hosting plenty of major NASCAR events.

BetMGM Strikes Deal With Charlotte Motor Speedway

According to a recent press release, BetMGM has started a market access agreement with Charlotte Motor Speedway, a popular location for different NASCAR and other racing events. With this partnership, BetMGM Sportsbook will be able to launch in the area once North Carolina sports betting is live.

Adam Greenblatt, the CEO of BetMGM, said in the press release: “We have been eagerly awaiting legal, safe, regulated online sports betting in North Carolina, a state with more than 10 million people and one of the most vibrant sports environments in the country. BetMGM’s partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway meets a great demand for entertainment from North Carolinians. Together we will deliver a premier and responsible gaming product that benefits many state agencies.”

Currently, BetMGM Sportsbook Online is available in 21 states across the U.S., as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the province of Ontario. Additionally, BetMGM is looking to debut in the new Vermont sports betting industry on January 11, 2024.

BetMGM’s focus on responsible gaming has remained consistent throughout its expansion into new areas, as seen with its GameSense program.

North Carolina Sports Expected To Launch Around March Madness

With the partnership in place, BetMGM Sportsbook is preparing to enter the North Carolina sports betting market. The state initially legalized sports betting on June 14, 2023 with a signature from Governor Roy Cooper. The state was then given a window between January 8 and June 14, 2024 to fully launch. Currently, it’s expected that North Carolina sportsbooks will be able to begin launching around March Madness.

BetMGM isn’t the first sports betting app to make a partnership in the state, with Bet365 (Charlotte Hornets), FanDuel (PGA Tour), Fanatics (Carolina Hurricanes), and ESPN Bet (Quail Hollow Club/Well’s Fargo Championship) all striking deals.

Charlotte Motor Speedway Celebrated As Popular Motorsports Location

Originally established in 1960, Charlotte Motor Speedway is a hotspot for motorsports events located in Concord, North Carolina. The venue has been home to popular events such as the NASCAR All-Star Race, Bank of America Roval 400, and Coca-Cola 600.

However, the venue doesn’t just host motorsports events, with the Cirque De Soleil Bazzar currently being held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Along with plenty of other major events coming up on the calendar, the Coca-Cola 600 is scheduled for May 26, 2024.

Greg Walter, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, demonstrated excitement over the partnership: “BetMGM has established itself as a signature source for sports betting with partnerships in every major league sport and with venues across the country. With Charlotte Motor Speedway’s history of innovation, we wanted to move forward into this new era of sports entertainment with a progressive sportsbook. This partnership with BetMGM will bring sports fans new ways to enjoy their favorite events while expanding North Carolina’s tax base, supporting colleges and facilitating recruitment of major events for the future.”

Charlotte Motor Speedway also offers racing schools, tours, special events, and a STEAM program.
