The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that BetMGM would become the franchise’s official sports betting partner. The partnership comes shortly after BetMGM launched its mobile betting app in the Pennsylvania market.
“We are thrilled to partner with BetMGM and together create new, engaging experiences to deliver to our 76ers fans. This partnership will allow us to connect with our fans on the digital channels where they spend their time through customized 76ers branded games and activations. BetMGM will also propel us into a new space, strategically targeting fans in the sports betting and gaming realm,” said Katie O’Reilly, 76ers Chief Revenue Officer.
76ers fans can expect bets tailed to the NBA franchise along with 76ers casino games as well. This is the second Pennsylvania franchise that BetMGM has partnered with. Earlier this year, the mobile betting operator partnered with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Partnership Details
BetMGM will be posting signage across the Well Fargo Center, where the 76ers play, and have signage on all social media platforms with the new partnership. You will be able to see the BetMGM logo underneath the hoop on both ends of the court at every 76ers home game.
The 76ers team logo and official team signage will also be on the BetMGM mobile betting app.
The deal announced that BetMGM Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City would become the official away game host of the Philadelphia 76ers. There will be events held at the location, with one being Season Ticket Member and VIP party. There will be casino games, 76ers memorabilia, and more.
BetMGM will also have its logo displayed on the Philadelphia 766ers team broadcast and the pregame and post-game show. BetMGM says they are excited for the opportunity to partner with the 76ers, per its press release. The partnership should be beneficial for both sides.
Betting Partnerships in Pennsylvania
With the BetMGM and 76ers partnership, there are now 12 gaming partnerships with sports franchises in the Keystone State. The 76ers are now partnered with BetMGM, DraftKings, FOX Bet, Parx, and Harrah’s/Ceasars. The Wells Fargo Center, where the 76ers play, also has two sportsbook lounges sponsored by BetRivers.
The Steelers are the only team from Pittsburgh that has a gaming partnership, which is BetMGM. The Eagles have partnered with Unibet, DraftKings, and FOX Bet. The Flyers are only partnered with BetRivers.
Pennsylvania, specifically Philadelphia, shows what can happen for a franchise when the state legalizes sports betting and gaming.
More states will continue to legalize sports betting, and franchises are going to be able to take another avenue with advertisements. The Wells Fargo Center has a sportsbook, and Lincoln Financial Field is also planning to build a betting lounge for Eagles games.
The betting partnerships will only entice fans to get in on the action with their favorite teams, and the partnerships will also drive traffic with team-specific bets they will be able to place on game day.
Pennsylvania is showing the betting industry the tip of the iceberg, and there is going to be more sponsorships coming. The 76ers already have five gaming partnerships, along with its home arena having a partnership. Franchises across the U.S. will form multiple betting partnerships as sports betting expands, and it is only going to expand the industry.
