BetRivers Parent Introduces New Initiative To Educate Teens On Responsible Gambling
Imagine being a teenager today and seeing ads commonly shared for online sports betting, casinos and sweepstakes casinos. You can’t gamble legally, but you’re aware of its prevalence in our culture and that many adults responsibly enjoy gambling as a form of entertainment.
Rush Street Interactive, the parent company of BetRivers, announced a partnership with Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) this week, and the two have created a program aimed at helping teenagers learn the ins and outs of responsible gambling.
The program, Gaming Literacy Aiding Decisions (GLAD), focuses on helping educators improve gaming literacy and promoting responsible gambling for high school-aged youths.

Investing In The Future
The GLAD initiative originates from the idea that the next generation must educate themselves and understand how to navigate a world in which they have more exposure and access to gambling than previous generations.
The sentiment rings true for people of all ages. But today’s youth will become tomorrow’s adults, and RSI wants them to step into adulthood armed with the knowledge to make responsible choices if they choose to gamble.
“Consumers today have more entertainment options than ever before, including within the gaming space,” said Richard Schwartz, RSI CEO, in a press release. “We appreciate that this expanded landscape offers individuals more ways to fulfill their entertainment needs. As technology continues to evolve, entertainment options, such as online gambling, have become increasingly mainstream and accessible.”
Citing a need for new frameworks, Schwartz added that any innovation in the space requires “thoughtful education and honest, open dialogue” and said he has seen the need for these programs firsthand in his community.
Some Things Have No Price Tag
Through BetRivers, RSI operates sportsbooks in 15 states and online casinos in five.
Beyond its bottom line, RSI stresses its role includes creating a space where young people can empower themselves and make informed decisions. RSI wants to make GLAD an integral part of responsible gambling education, informing teens of the risks associated with gambling.
Eric Frank, Co-CEO and President of IC360, said, “We are proud to partner with Rush Street Interactive, a company that has not only identified the need for gambling literacy among young people, but has also taken meaningful, proactive steps to lead the way in addressing the critical educational gap. Their demonstrable commitment to supporting educators and empowering students sets a new standard for creating informed and responsible attitudes towards gambling.”
GLAD To Launch Initially In DE, NJ
RSI and IC360 plan to roll out the GLAD program in Delaware and New Jersey, the first two states to legalize online gambling in 2012 and 2013.
The companies have already been working with school districts to deliver the curriculum and line up a series of speakers. They have also defined a set of metrics to measure the program’s success and gather feedback.
Pending positive results, the companies plan to bring GLAD to more states and a greater number of educators. Additionally, they plan to continue developing the program based on that feedback to expand its content offerings and make them more suitable to a broader range of students nationwide.
