Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Minnesota Vikings Player Prop Picks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Minnesota Vikings kicks off this Sunday in Minneapolis as a home opener for the Vikings. Minnesota comes into this one as a -5 favorite and -230 on the moneyline while the total is set at 46. With the Vikings defense still needing to prove themselves after last year’s near dead last Def DVOA rankings, player prop overs may be the theme in this matchup.
Rachaad White o2.5 Receptions
While the Vikings racked up wins last season, it was in no thanks to their defense as their Def DVOA rankings steadily declined throughout the year. They were a prime target to fade late in the year, eventually getting snake bitten by the New York Giants in the playoffs.
Expecting the Vikings to target defense early in the draft, they instead decided to take star USC receiver Jordan Addison to replace slot receiver Adam Thielen. They did target the secondary with their next two picks, making it intriguing to see if they can produce right away.
Until the Vikings defense can prove that they have improved, it will be opposing overs for the time being.
After splitting duties last year, Rachaad White is now expected to take a whole lot more of a workload this year. That opens up the door for more volume, putting him in a better position to cash his overs. With the Bucs offensive line already taking a blow due to injuries, a collapsing pocket gives White the chance for dump offs and a high-quality chance of cashing his over on receptions.
Rachaad White Anytime Touchdown
With added volume comes more opportunities to get in the end zone. Especially as the lead back in this offense as the Bucs may simplify their offense in the red zone with Baker under center.
The Vikings struggled to contain the rush last season, consistently getting pushed back on the line and allowing opposing backs to hit the second level. That makes White a prime target to attack in this market, getting the added benefit of him potentially running it in or hauling in a catch which also helps our other wager.
The Bucs still have playmakers on the outside, stretching out the Vikings coverage. This opens up White’s quality of look from the backfield, taking advantage of a dump off in the open field or running up the gut against a stretched-out box.
Jordan Addison o39.5 Rec Yards
Tampa Bay related overs are not the only market I’m attacking as Jordan Addison comes into this one as a really intriguing prospect. Not only is he an otherworldly talent himself, but he also lands in the perfect situation as a natural slot corner and now gets defensive attention drawn away from him with Justin Jefferson on the field.
With the Bucs defense regressing, Kirk Cousins should have ample time in the pocket to switch off his read from a potentially double-teamed Jefferson to a wide-open Addison. Mirroring the same situation he had with Thielen, getting the benefit of singular coverage and beating opposing defenders with elite route running.
Alexander Mattison o65.5 Rush Yds
The Bucs linebacking corps may still be one of the better units in the league, yet they will have their hands full having to drop more back in coverage against the likes of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
This opens the box for Alexander Mattison, the new starting running back for the Vikings after letting Dalvin Cook walk in free agency. He was a viable back up during his times with Cook, now getting the chance to prove himself as a three down back.
The volume will certainly be there which is a valuable aspect to cash overs early in the season. Ty Chandler serves as his backup, yet he has yet to really show any sort of consistency in the ground game with his underwhelming rushing average.
