Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys Player Props (10/3/21)
Contents
The Dallas Cowboys sit atop the NFC East division with a 2-1 record. Quarterback Dak Prescott has played well so far after only playing five games last season. He has thrown six touchdowns and given up two interceptions. With that being said, he has not thrown for a whole lot of yards. He has only thrown for over 300 yards in one game. I would expect him not to throw for over 288.5 yards against a strong Carolina Panthers defense this Sunday. The Panther defense has also only allowed 224.3 passing yards per game through the first three weeks of the season.
Sam Darnold Over 36.5 Pass Attempts
Normally, I would not expect Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold to throw over 35 pass attempts a week, but this week, Darnold will be without his starting running back, Christian McCaffrey. When RB Christian McCaffrey is healthy, he rushes the ball a lot and has a lot of offensive responsibility. Since McCaffrey is out this week, more responsibility will fall on the shoulders of QB Sam Darnold. Darnold will be tasked with pushing the ball down the field and throwing a handful of touchdowns. That is why he will be throwing the ball many more times than he usually does against the Cowboys.
Ezekiel Elliot Over 15.5 Rush Attempts
RB Ezekiel Elliot has once again shown that he is a pivotal part of this Cowboys offense. He has three rushing and three receiving touchdowns through the first three weeks of the seasons. He has also rushed the ball 44 times this year. The Cowboys will need to use every part of their offense against the Panthers and are going to hand the ball off to Elliot many times. They rely on Elliot to push the ball down the field and score touchdowns. I would expect him to have 17-20 rush attempts this week.
Amari Cooper Under 5.5 Receptions
Make no mistake, Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper is a scary guy to match up against on defense. He has shown the ability to score touchdowns while deceiving defenders, but last week against the Philadelphia Eagles he was uncharacteristically quiet. The Cowboys routed the Eagles 41-21, but he only had three receptions for 26 yards. He is facing a tough Panthers defense this week that has only allowed 224.3 passing yards per game and will probably double-team him and make his life difficult. Cooper may be impactful this week, but I do not see him having over 5.5 receptions.
Dalton Schultz Over 38.5 Receiving Yards
Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz had a surprisingly good game against the Eagles in Week 3. After only having 63 receiving yards through the first two games of the season, Schultz had six receptions for 80 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles. He was the Cowboys’ Week 3 leading receiver. I would expect him to use last week’s momentum to push him to have another big game against the Panthers. The 2018 fourth-round pick is a big target with a height of 6’5″. That means that quarterback Dak Prescot can throw the ball over smaller defenders and Schultz will be able to catch it. He will also probably be targeted a lot when wide receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb are covered. Expect him to have over 38.5 receiving yards.
