Celtics vs Heat Game 4 SGP Best Bets
With their backs against the wall in a desperate spot to avoid an 0-3 series deficit, the Boston Celtics turned in the most embarrassing playoff performance to date as the Miami Heat set a new record for largest win margin for an eighth seed. The rim looked to be as wide as the ocean as the Heat routinely burned the Celtics from deep with ease. This flustered the mean green, forcing them to spend more time complaining to the refs than channeling in any sort of competitive effort.
For what could very well be the last time this series, let’s dive deep into the matchup and muster up a SGP off of how I think the game script will go. The Miami Heat are poised to cap off the series sweep as the Celtics spirits appear to be broken after churning out one of the most embarrassing playoff performances to date.
SGP Leg 1: Miami Heat Moneyline
With that said, I am backing the Heat on the moneyline for the first leg of my SGP. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the Celtics have already purchased their tickets to Cancun as they looked to be mentally checked out halfway into game three.
I am hard pressed to see how the Celtics turn it around on short notice. The Heat’s offense is built to attack the Celtics stretched out defense, giving Jimmy Butler ample room to work with across the middle to shift their defense to his liking. This has allowed the likes of Gabe Vincent and Caleb Martin to pick their spots around the perimeter, generating high quality looks from deep at a high rate.
As for the defensive end, the Heat have made it their mission to disrupt Jayson Tatum’s rhythm and force their secondary scorers to beat them from over the top. This has halted the Celtics pace of scoring, forcing them into an uncomfortable position as they race from behind in a failed effort to catch up.
SGP Leg 2: Jaylen Brown u2.5 Threes
A staple of my SGP’s this series, as well as straights, cashed once again as Jaylen Brown went 0-7 from deep in game three. He has gone ice cold since game one, potentially being affected by his hand injury he sustained against the 76ers.
Injury aside, it’s worrisome on Boston’s end that he is now settling for low quality attempts as the Heat have done a successful job of putting a hand in his face. Especially with no one else finding any sort of consistency from deep to stretch their defense out.
In one instance, Brown had a chance to take the last shot of the half with the shot clock turned off. Instead of letting a play develop, he made a bone headed decision by settling for a contested corner shot with 10 seconds left that resulted in a clunker off the rim.
SGP Leg 3: Kevin Love u6.5 Rebounds+Assists
Sometimes it pays to be lucky as Kevin Love’s under for rebounds and assists seemed to be in jeopardy early in game three as he was on pace to clear this number before sustaining a back injury that knocked him out for the rest of the contest.
Even though he is still listed as Questionable, I still expect him to play in game four. Potentially even to a lesser extent, opting into the idea of leaving Bam as the sole big man and stretching out the court with three perimeter threats and Butler slashing the middle.
SGP Leg 4: Jayson Tatum Double-Double Yes
The Celtics have been forced to tinker their starting lineup throughout the series, failing to find any sort of consistency from both Robert Williams and Al Horford. This has resulted in Tatum needing to step up as a stretch forward, relentlessly attacking the boards to help negate the Heat’s second chance opportunities.
This was on pace to clear with ease in game three before he sat out the entirety of the fourth quarter, finishing the contest with 10 rebounds and 14 points. With their backs against the wall, expect Tatum to continue to put in a spirited effort on the glass as they attempt to revive their series hopes.
