Thursday Night Football might not always draw the most fun matchups, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of betting opportunities for the first game of the week. One of the most interesting angles on this game is the fact that this year’s first overall pick, QB Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars, is facing off against last year’s top pick, Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow. The Jaguars need a win here after going 0-3 to start the season, while the Bengals would love to wake up on Friday with a 3-1 record. Let’s take a look at some player props you should definitely consider for this Thursday Night Football matchup.
Joe Burrow Under 248.5 Passing Yards
This one might make you sweat throughout the game, but trust me here. Joe Burrow will pick on the Jaguars’ defense, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to need to sling it every play. He’s been averaging just 213 yards per game and hasn’t gone over 250 yards in the air since Week 1 against the Vikings. While I fully expect him to toss a TD or two, I could see the team riding the game out with Joe Mixon throughout Thursday night.
James Robinson Over 79.5 Rushing and Receiving Yards
While he had a bit of a slow start to the season, James Robinson is starting to get in a groove. He finished last game against the Cardinals with 136 total yards, a touchdown, and a 5.9-yard average on the ground. While the Jags were definitely bummed by the Travis Etienne injury, it’s given Robinson the opportunity to break out after a successful rookie campaign. Meanwhile, the Bengals just allowed versatile Steelers running back Najee Harris to put together 142 yards altogether, with 102 receiving yards. Expect Robinson to rack up some yards as well.
Ja’Marr Chase To Score a Touchdown
Joe Burrow and his former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase are starting to gell. Burrow hit the talented wide receiver four times for 65 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers last week. He’s scoring at least once a game, with four touchdowns on the year, while leading the team in receiving. Chase is facing a Jaguars defense that’s allowing 30.3 points a game. Keep the trend going and expect Chase to find the end zone. The Bengals receiver is currently +100 on DraftKings to score a touchdown.
Trevor Lawrence Over 254.5 Passing Yards
You never know what to expect from a Trevor Lawrence passing total. He came out of the gate with over 300 yards in Week 1, didn’t even hit 120 yards the week after, and managed 219 yards last game. However, a few Bengals injuries to the secondary will likely help him air it out this week. The Bengals are likely going to be missing cornerback Trae Waynes, with fellow defensive backs Darius Phillips and Chidobe Awuzie banged up. Even if the yards come at garbage time, expect Lawrence to go over his yardage total.
