College Football Saturday Five Best Bets
Contents
Week 6 of the college football season is here! There has been chaos this season, and we should see some more today. There are great matchups across the board and a lot of barking dogs out there. Here are this weeks five best college football bets.
Virginia Tech @ North Carolina (-3) O/U 57.5
Virginia Tech heads to North Carolina for 12:00 PM ET start. Virginia Tech was suffering from a COVID outbreak on their team and had 20 players out at one point. Despite the setbacks, they could real off two wins and now have a healthy roster with Justin Fuente back at quarterback. Virginia Tech has been excellent in the trenches, and it will make the difference on Saturday. North Carolina has looked shaky at times and could play an effect in today’s matchup.
Bet: Virginia Tech +3
The Hokies have looked good in their first two games despite having 20 players out due to COVID. Now, they have a full roster against a shaky North Carolina team. Virginia Tech could go into Chapel Hill today and pull off the upset with Justin Fuente back at quarterback.
Texas Tech @ Iowa State (-12.5) O/U 64.5
Texas Tech and Iowa State have a Big 12 matchup in Aimes this Saturday. Iowa State is coming off an upset win over Oklahoma as Texas Tech was let down last week against Kansas State. However, this could be a good spot to catch Iowa State sleeping. Texas Tech offense is very explosive, which the Cyclones have struggled to defend. They are also Top-10 in success rate and number on in starting field position. Texas Tech explosive offense should be able to hit big as Iowa State struggles to defend explosive plays.
Bet: Texas Tech +12.5
Too many points for Iowa State today. The sandwich spot between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State makes a prime spot to back the Red Raiders. Their offense should be able to move the football and stay within the number.
Kansas State @ TCU (-9.5) O/U 49.5
A showdown in Fort Worth between Kansas State and TCU is going down today. TCU will look to get up after upsetting Texas in Austin last week. The biggest mismatch in this game is the Kansas State explosive offense vs. the TCU explosive defense. The Wildcats ranks number one in explosive plays as TCU has struggled to defend them this season. The Kansas State defense should neutralize the TCU defense.
Kansas State +9.5
TCU is sitting in a sandwich spot between Texas last week and Oklahoma next week. Head coach Gary Patterson has been awful against the spread as a home favorite over a touchdown. I think Kansas State keeps it close and is a live dog to pull off a potential upset.
Miami @ Clemson (-15) O/U 59
Arguably the biggest matchup of the day is going down between Miami and Clemson tonight. This is a huge test for the Hurricanes to see if they can hang with an excellent Clemson team. Miami does match up well against the Tigers and should hang around for most of the game. However, Clemson’s biggest regular-season game in two years, so head coach Dabo Sweeney could get this team up and roll over Miami.
Miami +15
The Hurricanes explosive offense should make the difference on Saturday. Although an upset is unlikely at Clemson, Miami should stay within two touchdowns against the Tigers.
Mississippi State @ Kentucky (-3) O/U 57.5
Mike Leach will try to get Mississippi State up for Kentucky after taking an ugly loss to Arkansas. The Bulldogs passing attack should be able to throw all over Kentucky, as the Wildcats secondary is very below average. Kentucky has been good about creating explosive plays themselves, but Mississippi State defense has limited explosive plays.
Mississippi State +3
There is a good chance Mississippi State wins outright tonight in Kentucky. The Wildcats are off to a tough 0-2 start and about to go up against an Air Raid offense with K.J. Costello leading the charge. I’ll take the Bulldogs points and might even sprinkle some on the money line as well.
