Early College Football Week 12 Bets to Place
Week 11 of the college football season is here, which means it isn’t too early to get a look at some of the lines for Week 12’s action as the regular season nears an end. Many of the early lines may shift after this weekend’s games, so here are some of the bets you might want to lock in sooner rather than later.
TCU +2 vs. Baylor
There are no guarantees here. I thought the TCU-Texas line would move more in TCU’s direction after last weekend, but it stayed roughly where it was. That might help this time around.
Expectations for the Horned Frogs are pretty low, all things considered. TCU is a 7-point underdog on the road at Texas. If the Horned Frogs and their powerful offense can go in and beat the Longhorns – or even give them a real fight – this line could certainly move in their direction against Baylor. The Bears have won three straight and have a good chance of winning this weekend, but they don’t look like they’re at the level of Texas or TCU.
Oregon -6 vs. Utah
It feels like Oregon is still being undervalued, considering how dominant this team has been in conference play. The Ducks were clearly the better team when they took down UCLA and have played several levels above most of their Pac-12 competition.
This is a Utah team that lost to UCLA and Florida. The Utes have looked like one of the Pac-12’s better teams, but they’re not the national contender many expected. Oregon, by all indications, is a national contender. If the Ducks take care of business against a Washington team with a powerful offense, I’d expect this line to move above a touchdown with the game in Eugene. Oregon -6 is a very nice value until then.
Ole Miss Pick ‘Em vs. Arkansas
This one could go a similar direction as TCU. Ole Miss isn’t expected to win this weekend and doesn’t have to win to move this line. If the Rebels play Alabama closely, which is possible at home, it’s going to become clear that Lane Kiffin’s team is in an entirely different class than Arkansas.
The Razorbacks just lost to Liberty and look like they’re headed for another loss this weekend against a surging LSU team. If Arkansas gets trounced by LSU at home, they can lose comfortably to Ole Miss at home, too. The market will realize that, and this line will move. Ole Miss Pick ‘Em looks like a great value today.
SMU +3 vs. Tulane
Tulane has had a magical year. The Green Wave are one of the best Group of Five teams in the nation. They have a great defense and even managed a win over Kansas State early in the season. On the other hand, they don’t blow teams out like some of the past Group of Five elites did. Tulane beat Houston 27-24 earlier in the year, which is notable after SMU torched Houston for 77 points this past weekend.
The Mustangs hung with TCU and Maryland in September and now look like they’ve found the offensive firepower they had under Sonny Dykes last season. Tulane is at risk of losing to UCF this weekend. It’s far from a guarantee, but UCF is fully capable of the win. That could be enough to move this line in SMU’s favor.
