College Football Week 8 Lines
Contents
Week 8 doesn’t offer loads of top-25 matchups but we do have some interesting divisional games. Oregon will go to UCLA in what will be a tough matchup as they have been struggling against Pac-12 opponents. Alabama welcomes Tennessee and Ohio State heads to Indiana in the Game of the Week (which says something about this week). Notre Dame takes on USC in a historic rivalry, but neither team has shown consistency this season. Check out College Football’s Week 8 lines and odds.

USC Trojans at No. 14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Things have not been too bright for the Trojans this season. The team’s suffered some bad losses against Oregon State and Utah, getting outscored 87-53. They also parted ways with head coach Clay Helton a few weeks into the season. The Trojans desperately need a win to turn things around, but I just don’t see it happening against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Outside of a rough loss against the Cincinnati Bearcats, Notre Dame has been solid, with definitive wins over Wisconsin and Virginia Tech. Even with some inconsistencies at QB, Notre Dame’s receivers have racking up numbers this year. Tight end Michael Mayer leads the team with 360 yards and three TDs. Meanwhile, wide receivers Kevin Austin Jr. and Avery Davis have combined for 624 yards and five scores.
I simply don’t think that the Trojans will be able to keep this talented receiving corps at bay. USC is allowing 233.8 yards through the air per game, and Utah QB Cameron Rising recently picked them apart for 306 yards and three TDs. Meanwhile, neither USC quarterback has been all that impressive so far this year. Kedon Slovis has been turning over the ball too often while freshman Jaxson Dart has struggled with injuries. Things are going to keep looking rough for the Trojans and interim head coach Donte Williams, and a bad loss to Notre Dame will be more salt in the wound. Lay the points with Notre Dame in this matchup as USC holds out hope for next season with a new coach.

9 Oregon Ducks at UCLA Bruins
It’s been an inspiring start to the season for UCLA in Chip Kelly’s fourth year as head coach and they look to be turning into a real threat in the Pac-12. Dorian Thompson-Robinson has had an awesome season both as a passer and a runner while the backfield duo of Zach Charbonnet and Brittain Brown have been excellent. Kelly is an offensive-minded coach and the Bruins offense has grown into a real force in Thompson-Robinson’s senior season. Wins by multiple scores against LSU, Stanford, and Arizona stood out as impressive results. Meanwhile, Oregon has struggled as of late as they have seen injuries pile up and have had a tough time covering the spread against some lesser teams. Oregon lost to Stanford in double overtime and narrowly beat California, shocking results after they went on the road and beat Ohio State earlier this season. The Bruins will be fired up to host the Ducks at the Rose Bowl and I think their offense can hang around with dual-threat quarterback Anthony Brown. The tandem of CJ Verdell and Travis Dye is capable of pushing the offense against UCLA, but I’m nervous about the relative lack of passing production for the Ducks. I’ll take the points with UCLA in this game pending the results of their Week 7 games.

No. 15 Coastal Carolina at Appalachian State
It should be no surprise for those who are reading this, but Coastal Carolina has played absolutely nobody this year. Even more than that, no team the Chanticleers have played so far in their six-game season is over .500. The Chanticleers need a game against a team that has won the majority of their games so they can see how they truly stack up because right now, I have my doubts. They have been rolling over most of the teams they have played but barely squeaked out a win against the Buffalo Bulls. Now, they will face the 4-2 Appalachian State Mountaineers on the road. The Mountaineers just dropped a challenging game against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. To be fair, the Ragin’ Cajuns are a phenomenal football team, and the momentum was with them from the start. This is a terrific “buy low” opportunity on a team that just took a bad beat on the road. While the spread is still up in the air, I would jump on anything +17 or better for State. This has the makings of a much closer game with a backdoor cover at worst.
Best Bet: App State ATS (+17 or better)
