DraftKings Sportsbook Announces 2021 Premier Lacrosse League Odds
The Premier Lacrosse League is now the only show in town for professional lacrosse, which is still considered the fast-growing sport in America. Recently the PLL bought out Major league Lacrosse, and now we are left with just one league.
The PLL partnered with DraftKings last year to provide betting odds for the entire mini-season that it had during the pandemic. There was speculation on whether DraftKings would be returning as a bookmaker for the PLL, and those questions have been answered today. DraftKings officially has the Championship Winner future up for the PLL. All eight teams are on the books, and let us take a look at who are the favorites and who are the underdogs.
PLL Championship Winner Odds
Whipsnakes: +160
Redwoods: +450
Chaos: +450
Archers: +500
Chrome: +600
Atlas: +750
Waterdogs: +1,000
Cannons: +1,700
It comes as no surprise that the odds on favorite to win the league is the 2x champion Whipsnakes. The team has been rather dominant through the first two seasons of the PLL and only got better this offseason. The Whipsnakes landed some of the best players in the entry, and collegiate drafts due to the fact that there were no needs to target. The Whipsnakes simply snatched the very best player on their board with each pick and added some insane depth to an excellent squad.
When looking for values, two teams stand out. The first is the Redwoods at +450. The Redwoods have lost to the Whipsnakes in overtime, in the playoffs, for two straight years. The team constantly puts up the best fight against the best team. However, unlike the Whips, the Redwoods had glaring needs at faceoff and when it came to off-ball scorers. Well, the team went out and got the greatest collegiate faceoff man that I have ever watched in TD Ierlan. Then, in the entry draft, the team secured Ryan Lee, the goal-scoring leader in the defunct MLL. This team should be right behind the Whips in odds but instead offer a good +450 value.
The second team I would love to throw $10 on is the Waterdogs at +1,000. I believe that this is a lack of data going into the formula as the Waterdogs got significantly stronger as a team through trades and draft picks. For example, the team was able to draft Michael Sowers, who many consider the best player in the collegiate draft. While I do not peg the Waterdogs as favorites, I would surely have them above Chrome and Atlas and closer to Archers in terms of odds. 10 to 1 seems like a good bet on a team that is stronger than half of their competition.
The Premier Lacrosse League should be a ton of fun this summer, and the season will begin three weeks from today, on June 4th. The PLL is set to be aired on Peacock but will also have nationally broadcasted games on NBCSN and NBC. For those of you who love to bet, DraftKings will be providing odds through the entire season.
