Major companies like DraftKings and FanDuel didn’t get where they are today on their own. They have formed major partnerships along the way that have helped make them the two most prominent online sportsbook and daily fantasy sports operators in the country.

Recent DraftKings Partnerships

DraftKings Furthers Relationship With MLB

mlb logoDraftKings and Major League Baseball have had ties together for years now. The daily fantasy sports company turned sportsbook, DraftKings, became the official daily fantasy partner of the MLB back in 2015. The MLB was even the first major sports league to invest in DraftKings when it was still in its infancy. The company even has partnerships with specific teams in the Majors. Now the two have formed an even tighter partnership.

DraftKings is now an official league partner for gaming for the MLB, an “Authorized Gaming Operator”. As part of the deal, DraftKings will get to use MLB official logos and has access to their official league data. The access to MLB’s official league data will help DraftKings improve their live and in-game betting with real-time updates. The added speed that DraftKings will have in dealing with and updating live-betting options is crucial. Bettors only have seconds to place these types of bets in most cases and every added second is big for both the bettors and the sportsbook.

DraftKings Partners With PGA

downloadDraftKings and the PGA Tour have agreed to a content and marketing partnership. As part of this deal, DraftKings daily fantasy golf is now the “official” offering of the PGA Tour, the first do be labeled as such. Other benefits of the deal include real-time video updates for golfers in players fantasy lineups and perhaps most importantly, the use of the PGA Tour’s “ShotLink” tracking system. ShotLink is essentially a tracking system of each golfers location on a hole, relative to the pin. It shows the distance from the golfers current shot to the pin.

“The PGA TOUR and DraftKings will collaborate on a variety of real-time product enhancements via the PGA TOUR’s proprietary ShotLink powered by CDW data feed,” according to the DraftKings website. “Golf continues to grow in popularity among DFS players globally at DraftKings and is our fourth-largest sport in terms of engagement, out of 15 total offerings,” said Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer of DraftKings. “Our partnership with the PGA TOUR signals a mutual commitment to excellence in customer experience along with a new era in golf fandom and engagement.”

Recent FanDuel Partnerships

breeders cupFanDuel has entered into a multi-year sponsorship agreement with one of horse racings’ biggest events, the Breeders’ Cup. TVG (whose parent company is FanDuel) and FanDuel are now official partners of four business units of the Breeders Cup (advanced-deposit wagering, daily fantasy sports, sports betting, and online casino). The two races that TVG will be the title sponsor of are The Breeders’ Cup Mile and The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. This deal is a big opportunity for both the Breeders’ Cup and the sport of horse racing in general, as it will help them reach a bigger audience through FanDuels six million members.

Notable Past DraftKings and FanDuel Partnerships

– DraftKings has an advertising agreement with ESPN and separately with Fox Sports.

– DraftKings will be the official fantasy sports provider of the XFL and have exclusive rights to the league’s sports betting platforms. Vince McMahon, the owner of the XFL, has a minority stake in DraftKings as well.

– DraftKings has additional partnerships with the NFL, Bleacher Report, NASCAR, UFC, Madison Square Garden, Staples Center and 45 sports teams from the four major sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), as well as the New York Liberty (WNBA).

– In November of 2018, FanDuel became the first official daily fantasy sports and sports betting partner of the National Hockey League.

– In May 2019, “FanDuel Group and fuboTV announced a partnership that will make FanDuel Group the exclusive sportsbook, online casino, horse racing and DFS partner of the live TV streaming service.
