DraftKings Fantasy Golf World Championship Getting Ready to Crown a New Winner
DraftKings 2019 Fantasy Golf World Championship qualifying rounds are about to head to the proverbial 18th tee. If you haven’t earned a spot in this year’s FGWC final on August 8, grab your fantasy lineup card and start picking your lineup winners. Here’s how to qualify, how the showdown round will unfold, plus the prize pool at stake.
Qualifying for DraftKings’ FGWC
If you haven’t earned one of the 200 spots in the finals this year, you have one last qualifier remaining. Those who don’t get into this year’s final, have experience on their side heading into next season’s FGWC.
For those who missed out on the three months worth of chances to qualify, keep your eye open for your opportunity beginning next April. But, with over a million dollars in prizes, missing out on a last chance qualifier is like giving up with one hole left to play.
For the lucky 200 eventually heading into the August 8 final, they are well aware that the only way to get in is to play. During the qualifying period, DK account holders can play as many qualifying rounds as they wish. However, there is cap off six entries into the finals.
Qualifying for the FGWC finals is simple. All you need to do is pick your best lineup card of golfers for any of the qualifiers. With the right combination you could earn a free shot at $1.25 million in prizes.
Showdown Advance
With a spot in the final 200 comes a chance to advance through a four-round showdown. August 8 will match all 200 contestants. The top-100 scores on Thursday will live to play a second-round on Friday.
That 100 will be cut in half again, leaving 50 players left to play in a third-round on Saturday, August 10. Saturday’s third showdown round will carve the number in half one last time. On Sunday, August 11, 25 fantasy golfers will shoot it out for $40,000 in the cash prize pool, plus five trips to see a PGA event live next season.
FGWC Prize Pool
DraftKings is going to hand the eventual FGWC champ a big fat check for a quarter-million dollars. Runner-up will win $100,000. Every one of the 200 qualifiers will go home with no less than $2,000 in cash.
The five top fantasy golfers, who shoot their way through the four-round survivor series beginning August 8, will also win a trip to PGA event in 2020. The individual qualifiers have cash prize pools as well as a ticket to the finals.
Even players who have already amassed their six entries can still play. Once the six entries have been obtained, the second place finisher in that qualifier earns the FGWC entry ticket. That’s even more reason to jump into the final tee-off qualifier still open.
One qualifier left to go this year. It’s worth the chance of winning and entry, plus gaining some experience heading into next year’s FGWC. Lock down the last spot and you will win no less than $2,000. The big winner takes home a cool $250,000, plus five lucky golf fans will be in the gallery at a PGA event in 2020.
