New York Giants @ Chicago Bears (-5.5) O/U 42
The New York Giants head to Chicago to take on the Bears this Sunday. The Bears are coming off a dramatic come from behind win where they took down the Detroit Lions. The Giants, on the other hand, have a short week to pre as they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home.
The Bears pulled off an improbable fourth-quarter comeback in last week’s game. According to ESPN, the Detroit Lions had a 98.3 percent chance of winning with 4:56 left in the game. Chicago was down 23-13 at this time.
In the first three-quarters of the game, the Lions outgained the Bears in yards per play 7.1 to 5.44 before the late-game collapse. Detroit had control of the game for a majority of the time.
So, people will look at the Week 1 matchup and give the Lions a bump down and the Bears a bump up when an improbable comeback happened.
As for the Giants, they gave the Steelers a tough time in the first half of the game. There was a chance for the Giants to cover as well. New York lost by 10, but after building a successful third-quarter drive, Daniel Jones threw an interception on the goal line, which shifted the game in favor of Pittsburgh.
The Giants only averaged 4.5 yards per play on Monday and rushing for 29 yards, which is not great considering the Bears defense is still top-10 in the league. However, Daniel Jones did impress a bit in the Giants Week 1 loss.
Expect this game to be tight in Chicago while Bears fans watched their team catch a gift last Sunday.
Pick: Giants +5.5
This game could be sloppy on Sunday. Last year, the Bears only beat the Giants 19-14. The Giants hung around for a bit against the Steelers and could do so again Sunday against the Bears. Chicago for three quarters looked stagnant in Detroit until a miracle was pulled off. I think overreaction from Week 1 is the decider in this one as these two teams should probably be closer to a field-goal than 5.5 points.
