DraftKings Kansas Sportsbook Review & Launch Details (August)

Kansas Sports Betting Update

Kansas 12022 has been an eventful year for Kansas lawmakers vying for a legal sports betting market. The Kansas House of Representatives recently approved SB 84, the leading sports betting bill that would legalize the activity in Kansas. It was immediately sent to the Senate for approval where it is now waiting in the wings to be considered until they reconvene on April 25.

Under SB 84, Kansas’ four state casinos will be allowed to partner with three operators to offer online wagering options in the state. Other key components of the bill include a 10% tax rate on operators and the legalization of both professional and collegiate sports wagering in the state. In a recent development, the House added an amendment to the bill that promises 80% of tax revenue produced by sports betting operations in the state will go towards attracting new sports teams to Kansas. This amendment came just days after Kansas City Chiefs President Mark Donovan teased the idea of the Chiefs relocating to Kansas from Missouri.

While sports betting is not currently legal, it is expected to eventually be legalized, and soon. Kansas lawmakers have expressed their desire to get operations up and running prior to the 2022 NFL season.

New users at DraftKings are eligible to receive a free bet and a large bonus upon signing up and making a deposit with their new DraftKings account.

Typically, new users can receive up to a $1,000 bonus and a $50 free bet credited to their new account. We expect something similar for Kansas sports bettors!

DraftKings Mobile App Review

In an effort to make its platform more accessible to its users, DraftKings has a mobile app available on both Android and iOS devices, in addition to its desktop platform. The homepage is where you can manage your account including withdrawals and deposits, and the lobby is where you can navigate wagering options by choosing a sports league to bet on.

For iOS users, users have the option to download the app from the mobile desktop or from the Apple App Store. Android users cannot navigate to the Play Store to download the app, they are only able to download the DraftKings mobile app using the desktop download feature. Kansas Legal History

The current legislation underway in Kansas is the product of years-long trial and error in the state. All roads seem to be leading in hopeful directions as SB 84, the bill legalizing sports betting in the state of Kansas, has made its way to the Senate for approval. It’s been a tumultuous journey for the bill having been introduced January 26, 2021. Over a year later, it seems to be at its finish line but must await the Senate’s approval.

Upon legalization, the bill will allow for mobile retail sportsbook operators to conduct business in the state and award the four state-owned casinos up to three skins with an option to add a fourth, in partnership with a major league sports team. The bill will also allow for all casinos in the state to partner with up to 50 operators. These operators, both mobile and retail, will be taxed at a rate of 10%. In new conversations, it’s been decided that 80% of the tax revenue generated will be used to lure professional sports teams to Kansas. As it stands, they currently only have Sporting Kansas City in the MLS.

DraftKings Future Bet: Kansas City Chiefs to Win AFC West

DraftKings is still calling Mahomes and the Chiefs to win the division despite Russell Wilson joining the AFC West, and we think they still may be right. The Chiefs started out rocky last year but picked it up to prove they were the championed team we remember them as, taking out the Packers, Cowboys, and Bills in the process. The Chargers and Raiders both lost some crucial must-wins that make me weary to believe they won’t do it again, and the Broncos, while much more competitive with a quarterback like Wilson, but it’s doubtful that they beat a well-seasoned Mahomes and company with a brand new team. I see the margin being somewhat minimal considering how competitive this division will be this season, but Mahomes doesn’t flinch. The Chiefs will win the AFC West for the seventh year in a row.
