Top Pitchers-
Rich Hill ($10,800) vs Mets– Hill has been pitching great coming into tonight’s game vs the Mets posting a 0.75 ERA with 17 Ks and a .167 BAA in his last two starts. He will get to go up against the Mets tonight who are one of the worst hitting teams and currently are missing one of their key players in Robinson Cano. The Dodgers rotation has been one of the deepest in all the major thus far and Rich Hill’s performance this year has been a big reason why. As long as he is healthy he has proven to be a great pitcher and vs the Mets he should also have a good opportunity to pick up a win in this spot.
Dylan Bundy ($8,500) vs Tigers– Bundy’s career has been full of ups and downs but this year he seems like he is pitching much better than previous seasons. He comes into tonight’s game with a 2.38 ERA and 12 Ks in his last two starts and he will be going up against a Tigers team that is currently on the worst losing stretch of any team in baseball so far this season. Bundy has 2 scoreless outings in his last 4 starts and in those starts he has never allowed more than 3 runs. The big blowup games have been a concern for Bundy but with the way he is pitching now I have no issue rostering him at this price.
Top Hitters-
Freddie Freeman ($4,800) vs Nationals– Freddie Freeman continues to hit for pop and average like we have seen from him year in and year out for the Braves. He will be going up against Stephen Strasburg tonight, a pitcher Freeman has had much success against throughout the years. He is currently hitting .354 off the right hander with 4 HRs and 5 2B in 48 career plate appearances. Freeman is one of the best hitters in the NL so rostering him vs a guy he has this much success against is a no brainer for me.
Jean Segura ($4,700) vs Cardinals– Segura continues to rack up hits in bunches for the Phillies near the top of their lineup. Coming into this game Segura has a hit in 14 of his last 15 games and he has been an on base machine. He has also scored in 12 of those 15 games because the Phillies offense behind him is so good they can knock him in. To go along with that he is hitting .455 off St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright in 22 Abs. There is a lot of ways Segura can get points and that’s why I like him tonight vs the Cardinals.
Renato Nunez ($4,300) vs Tigers– Nunez is a relatively unknown player but he has been quite the home run hitter for the Orioles so far this season. He has hit 6 homers in his last 8 games before tonight’s game and in those games he has racked up 12 RBI’s. His price has obviously risen substantially because of his performance but I find it hard not to roster a guy hitting the ball this well.
Daniel Murphy ($4,500) vs Diamondbacks– We know Daniel Murphy has the ability to hit but we just haven’t seen it yet in a Rockies uniform and a lot of struggles can be attributed to his broken finger from early this season. However, it looks like he is starting to get in his groove with at least 1 hit in 6 of the last 7 games. Up in Colorado vs a struggling pitcher I have no issues picking a guy with the pedigree that Daniel Murphy has.
