DraftKings MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 5/31/19

Top Pitchers-

Joey Lucchesi ($8,800) vs Marlins– Lucchesi looks to have found something over his last couple of starts and has been striking out more batters than usual. In the last month Luchessi owns a 0.83 WHIP with only 4 BBs in 24 innings of work. He is also coming off of a 11 K performance vs the Blue Jays. He will be up against the Marlins tonight who don’t have the best offensive lineup so Lucchesi should have another great opportunity to put up a solid performance and hopefully come out with a win if he is given some run support.

Mike Foltynewicz ($8,500) vs Tigers– After a rough performance 3 starts ago when he allowed 8 runs in 4.2 innings Foltynewicz has bounced back posting a 1.50 ERA and a 0.67 WHIP in his last two starts. He hasn’t walked any batters in those starts and he is inducing very soft contact which was his issue earlier in the season. The Braves will take on the Tigers tonight who are going through all sorts of issues and have lost lots of baseball games over the past couple of weeks. Overall I think Folty’s recent success and matchup tonight make him a valuable option at only $8,500 tonight in this full slate of games.

Top Hitters-

Mike Trout ($5,700) vs MarinersMike Trout hasn’t been playing his best lately with an average around .200 in the last 7 days but his OBP is still great around the .400 mark. What I really like about Trout tonight is his history vs Mariners SP Mike Leake. In 21 career ABs vs Leake Trout is hitting .524 with 6 2B and 1 HR. Leake is also coming into this game struggling, 12 ER in his last two starts, so I like Trout to get off his cold streak tonight on the road in Seattle.

Eddie Rosario ($4,900) vs Rays– As a team the Twins have been one of the best teams in all of baseball and a big reason has been the play of the players in the middle of their lineup. One of those guys is Eddie Rosario who has at least 1 hit in 7 of his last 8 games coming into tonight. He is also hitting for power with 17 HR on the year. It looks like the Rays will be going with an opener so look for Rosario to do some damage in the middle innings.

Jonathan Villar ($4,700) vs Giants– Jonathan Villar has been an average player this season but he look like he is starting to get his bat going. With 9 hits in his last 6 games with 2 HR and 6 RBI he could be in for another big night tonight vs SP Drew Pomeranz who has had some issues getting batters out. Not only is Villar hitting but he also has speed that makes him even more valuable in this spot. While it’s tough to steal vs a lefty it still is something to think about when rostering him. Despite his price being a bit high for my liking I don’t want to miss out if he continues to hit well.

Jonathan Lucroy ($4,000) vs Mariners– Jonathan Lucroy has shown in previous years that he can hit but lately he has been nothing but an average hitter. Even knowing that I like Lucroy tonight against a struggling Mike Leake. He is hitting .420 against Leake in his career with 2 HRs in 50 ABs vs the veteran right hander. Look for Lucroy to provide some decent value at this price point due to his history vs the starting pitcher.
