Top Pitchers
Jeff Samardzija ($8,300) vs Padres– Samardzija has been pretty good on the mound for a Giants team that has been surging in recent weeks. In the last 30 days he owns a 3.69 ERA and has only walked 5 batters across 31 innings. His K’s have also been up and has been able to work deep into games. These are all ingredients you want from your DFS starter. He will be up against the Padres tonight who he pitched great against last time out going 8 innings allowing 2 ER and striking out 6 batters. The Padres have been strikeout prone lately so I’m expecting a big game from the right hander.
Dario Agrazal ($6,000) vs Mets– Dario Agrazal has been a welcome surprise for the Pirates as he owns a 2.25 ERA through 5 starts with the big club and has only allowed more than 1 ER twice. His xFIP isn’t friendly and he should start regressing soon but against the Mets team with trade rumors swirling I don’t think that will be tonight. He has showed up against the big teams like Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Houston so a start vs the Mets where he is only priced at $6,000 I am willing to take a shot on even if the advanced numbers point a different direction.
Top Hitters
DJ LeMahieu ($5,400) vs Red Sox– LeMahieu has been red hot for the Yankees all season and has been a vital point in their stacked lineup. He has been on base in 10 of his last 11 games and seems to be scoring a run every single start with the star power behind him knocking him in. He has also seen the ball great vs Red Sox SP Andrew Cashner, .320 in 32 PAs. His price is very steep but with the way he has been playing in my opinion it is very worth it.
Gleyber Torres ($4,900) vs Red Sox– I’m going with another Yankee tonight and that is infielder Gleyber Torres. He has been swinging the bat very well with a hit in 7 of his last 8 games with 5 R 1 HR and 5 RBIs. He also comes in cheaper then LeMahieu but he does offer much more in the power department. Against Andrew Cashner he is hitting .462 with 2 HRs in 14 career PAs. The #’s all point to Torres reaching his value tonight at $4,900.
Starling Marte ($4,600) vs Mets– Marte was a pretty average player for most of the season but he has been scorching hot as of late for a struggling Pirates ballclub. He comes into this one 18 for his last 53 with 13 R 5 HR and 14 RBI’s and has shown no signs of slowing down. He isn’t offering the speed we are used to right now but when he is hitting this well it doesn’t matter. He will be up against Zack Wheeler tonight who has shown that he can blow up in some spots and it’s not out of the question to think he will struggle coming off the IL tonight. With the way Marte is playing $4,600 feels like a very fair price to pay.
Rougned Odor ($4,200) vs A’s– Yeah his average is terrible hovering around the Mendoza line but Odor has been hitting for a lot of power recently. In the last 4 games alone he has put up 6 R 4 HR and 7 RBIs. Tonight he will be up against A’s starter Daniel Mengden who has been up and down lately posting a 4.35 ERA and walked 5 batters gave up 6 hits and 4 ER in his last start against the Twins. Odor is no sure thing but when he gets in his power groove there isn’t much going to stop him and even if he goes ¼ on the night if he can get one out he will be worth it in this spot.
