Top Pitchers
Ivan Nova ($8,300) vs Twins– White Sox SP Ivan Nova has been on fire for Chicago the past month or so. In the last 30 days Nova owns a 0.49 ERA with a .159 BAA across 37 innings of action. Those numbers are insane and despite him not striking out a lot of guys he has gone deep into games which has allowed him to be a good fantasy asset. With only 2 ER allowed in his last 5 starts including a 2 hit 6 inning performance vs the Twins I have no issue roster Nova at this price point.
Brendan McKay ($7,500) vs Mariners– McKay really struggled his last time out against the Padres walking 6 guys and allowing 4 ER in only 4 innings of work. The walks were uncharacteristic because McKay had only walked 2 batters in his last 5 games combined prior to that last start. The good news is he is still striking out a lot of batters, no less than 7 in 5 of his last 6 starts, and he gets to go up against the Mariners. The Mariners lineup is pretty weak at this point in the season as they look to be tanking so I think this is a night where McKay can get back on track and live up to his hype he had earlier this season.

Mike Trout ($5,600) vs Rangers– Mike Trout has killed the Rangers all season and he will get the opportunity to face them again tonight. In 43 ABs this season vs Texas Trout is hitting .349 with 9 HRs 16 RBIs and 16 BBs which is good for a .541 OBP. The numbers don’t lie and we already know Trout is one of the best if not the best hitters in our generation. With the value we are getting today in other places paying $5,600 for Trout doesn’t seem like a bad thing.
Eric Hosmer ($3,900) vs Reds– Eric Hosmer has been playing some really good baseball as of late for the Padres. He comes into this one with at least a hit in 9 of his last 10 games with 5 RBIs and a home run. Hosmer won’t give you elite power but there is some there with his 18 HRs this season and he has shown earlier this year that when he gets hot and is taking it to all fields he can be a deadly weapon. He has some history vs Trevor Bauer hitting .286 with a homer in 23 ABs so if you are looking for a solid high floor option below $4,000 Hosmer is your guy.
Manny Machado ($3,800) vs Reds– The Padres 300 million dollar man, Manny Machado, has been struggling a bit as of late but he has shown some signs of breaking out of the slump. He had 4 hits in the 3 games series vs the Phillies and tonight he will be up against a familiar face in Trevor Bauer. Machado has dominated Bauer in their matchups hitting .643 with 4 HRs and 2 2Bs in 18 career PAs. If there was ever going to be a night where we can officially put the end to slump talks it looks like it could be tonight. At $3,800 for a player with his tools I have no problem with Machado here.
Matt Carpenter ($3,800) vs Brewers– Matt Carpenter had a home run on Saturday night but other than that he hasn’t been playing his best baseball for the Cardinals. However, I am betting on that to change tonight vs Brewers starting pitcher Matt Carpenter. In his career Carpenter is hitting .458 with four doubles, 3 home runs, and 4 walks vs the right hander in 28 career PAs. Davies is coming off the IL to make this start so he may be a bit rusty and he hasn’t been very good at all lately allowing 17 runs in his last 3 starts.
