Top Pitchers
Shane Bieber ($10,700) vs Twins– Bieber has been superb for the Indians this season. He has really stepped up this year and he continues to go deep into games and rack up the strikeouts. Coming into tonight’s game he hasn’t allowed more the 2 ER in any of his last 3 starts and he has racked up 8+ Ks in 6 of his last 7 starts. He will be up against a Twins team that he struck out 9 times in 6.1 innings in their last meeting so despite the high price I think it is well warranted and worth it to ride with Bieber tonight on the road in Minnesota.
Cal Quantrill ($6,200) vs Rockies– Quantrill is dirt cheap at only $6,200 and he has been pitching pretty well as of late. He doesn’t go deep into games but he has now pitched 9 straight outings where he has allowed 3 ER or less and that includes 5 starts and 4 relief appearances. His days in the pen look over and with only 3 ER combined in his last 4 starts it looks like the right move. He won’t do anything special for you with K’s but I wouldn’t call him a low strikeout pitcher so I see a lot of upside vs him, at this price, vs a Rockies team in San Diego tonight.
Top Hitters
Freddie Freeman ($5,100) vs Marlins– Freeman has been on a tear for the Braves as of late as he comes into tonight’s game with 6 R 3 HR and 6 RBI’s in his last 4 games. In those games he has racked up 8 hits as well. Tonight Freeman will be going against Marlins SP Caleb Smith who he has seen really well, .444 with a HR in 9 career ABs. It isn’t a lot of history but with a hitter of Freeman’s caliber it is enough for me to have faith that he can do some damage tonight vs the Marlins.
Ozzie Albies ($4,400) vs Marlins– Another Braves bat I like is 2B Ozzie Albies. He has been doing a lot as well racking up 13 hits in his last 6 games with 9 R 2 HR 5 RBIs and 3 SB. He feels underpriced in this spot and like Freeman, Albies has limited but very good success vs Marlins SP Caleb Smith. In 9 ABs he is hitting .333 with 2 doubles vs the left hander. The Braves offense has been clicking and after a loss last night I expect them to get back on track in a big way.
Nick Castellanos ($4,000) vs Reds– Castellanos has started his Cubs career by collecting hits, hits, and more hits. In his last 3 games Castellanos is 9/17 with 7 R 3 HRs and 4 RBIs. He isn’t known as a big power hitter but in Cincinnati he showed up last night by going ¾ with 2 homers. His team is now a lot better so I think we will continue to see more run producing opportunities and he is a good enough hitter to convert. At one time Castellanos was a valuable commodity and as the games go by I think we will head back that direction.
Wilson Ramos ($3,600) vs Nationals– Wilson Ramos is one of the best run producing catchers in the league and I don’t believe he is priced that way tonight. He has 13 RBI’s in his last 7 games and he has 8 hits in the last 4. He also has proven success vs Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg who has struggled as of late. Ramos is hitting .417 with a double in 12 career ABs vs the big right hander. Looking at how low he is on the catcher list tonight I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t have him on your roster.
