Thursday Night Football features one of the smallest spreads, and therefore, one of the tightest predicted matches at +1 for the New York Jets. If this match intrigues you, I suggest you take the Broncos at home at -1. While the Broncos will be starting a backup QB due to Drew Lock’s injury, the huge difference in this game will be the coaching. Vic Fangio is praised league-wide as a great leader and a defensive mastermind. Even with injuries to that defense and to his QB, his players will play hard for him and he will put together a good gameplan. Meanwhile, Adam Gase has lost the confidence of his players and might be fired as early as Friday morning. Through his entire HC career at Miami, and now New York, he has failed and I see nothing changing in this TNF matchup. Fangio’s defense will out scheme Gase’s offense.
You can also look at the talent. The Denver Broncos have weapons all over the field despite injuries. KJ Hamler, Noah Fant, and Jerry Jeudy can make even a practice squad QB look good. Bradley Chubb is still an elite OLB and pass rusher who will cause problems for Sam Darnold. Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay could probably run better with a 40-pound backpack on than Frank Gore currently can at this point in his career. The talent and coaching are both in the Broncos’ favor.
