DraftKings NFL Daily Fantasy Cash Game Picks Week 2

Quarterbacks

Russell Wilson ($6,200) vs SteelersEven though Russell Wilson is a run first offense he still can be a very valuable fantasy asset. He is extremely efficient and I like him vs a Steelers defense that had its struggles last week vs the Patriots on Sunday night. They stopped the run pretty well but in the pass game they were picked apart by Phillip Dorsett and Josh Gordon all night. Wilson has the ability to run but he didn’t in their last contest only rushing for 8 yards but with Lockett and DK Metcalf, who played well in his first start, there is a lot to like with Wilson. If Pittsburgh can slow down the Seahawks run game we could see a lot of Russell Wilson this week.

Derek Carr ($5,100) vs ChiefsNo Antonio Brown, no problem for Derek Carr and the Raiders in their first game Monday night vs a tough Broncos defense. In that game Carr threw for 259 yards and a TD on 22/26 passing. I was expecting a bounce back year from the Raiders QB and he came through in week 1 and vs a Chiefs defense that allowed Nick Foles and Gardner Minshew play very well vs them I think Carr can take advantage. Given what we know about the Chiefs offense the Raiders will have to throw a lot to keep up and that favors Carr and his new #1 WR Tyrell Williams. With Williams and new TE Darren Waller the Raiders quarterback has multiple above average weapons so taking a shot on him at $5,100 in a expected pass heavy game is no issue for me.

Running Backs

Sony Michel ($6,200) vs DolphinsMichel let us down last week rushing the ball 15 times for only 14 yards on the day with no catches. Even though he struggled his price still went up this week and for good reason. We saw the Dolphins get blown out by the Ravens last week and it is expected that the Patriots will do the same thing. That means a lot of running the ball late in the game and that will likely mean Michel will be heavily involved. He got the largest share of the rushes and Michel is much better than he showed in week 1, roster this RB and don’t be afraid about what you saw on Sunday night.

Derrick Henry ($6,000) vs ColtsCould Derrick Henry actually be a top back in the NFL this season??? He played great in week 1 for the Titans rushing for 84 yards and a TD and caught 2 balls for 75 yards and a TD. We likely won’t see a long screen pass TD again but the rushing success is a very good sign. The Colts gave up a lot of FPTS to the Chargers running back tandem of Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson so the signs are pointing to Henry having another great day running the ball. As long as Mariota is healthy and is a threat to throw the football I believe Derrick Henry will have enough room to operate and especially score some short yardage TDs in this offense.

Chris Thompson ($3,900) vs CowboysThompson isn’t the lead back but he plays a James White type of roll in this offense. In week 1 he was targeted 10 times and hauled in 7 of those for 68 yards to go along with his 3 carries for 10 yards. There is a lot of volume to be had here for a guy that is price under $4,000 bucks. The Cowboys defense is excellent with speed everywhere on the field but if the Chargers defensive line can get pressure on Keenum he will be forced to drop it down to backs like Thompson in short yardage. If he’s on the field he is a weapon so if you are looking for a very reasonably priced RB this is your guy in this matchup.

Wide Receivers

JuJu Smith-Schuster ($7,500) vs SeahawksWe all know how much the Steelers offense struggled in week 1 but they are much better than that and we should see them rebound a bit against the Seahawks. JuJu got banged up late in that contest but he is expected to be able to play this weekend and be the #1 option for Big Ben. Despite the offense struggling he hauled in 6 of his 8 targets for 78 yards against Gillmore, who is one of the best cornerbacks in all the NFL. The Seahawks don’t have that type of lockdown player and as long as he continues to get the majority of the targets JuJu has some of the best RAC ability in the league. Don’t be scared off by the week 1 performance of this team.

Larry Fitzgerald ($4,600) vs RavensLarry Fitzgerald’s first game with his new rookie QB Kyler Murray was a success for fantasy owners. Fitz brought in 8 of his 13 targets for 113 yards and a TD vs the Lions which included some superb high level receptions. The Ravens defense is good but they are missing some pieces in the secondary and given the amount of times we saw Kyler throw Fitz could be in for a huge amount of targets this season. Even if he is running short/intermediate routes in this game he should still be a valuable option at $4,600. It’s going to be hard to judge exactly what this offense is early in the year but if it’s anything like we saw late vs the Lions, Fitz could find his way in my lineup often.

Tyrell Williams ($4,400) vs ChiefsTyrell Williams was strictly a deep ball threat with the Chargers in his career but in his first game with the Raiders he was making contested catches on short routes as well as bringing in some deep balls. He caught 6 of his 7 targets for 105 yards and a TD on the night and looked like he had great chemistry with QB Derek Carr. The Chiefs secondary still isn’t the best so if the Raiders get down, like we should expect them to do, the ball will be thrown a lot and I think a lot of that will go in the direction of new addition Tyrell Williams.

Tight End

T.J. Hockenson ($3,000) vs ChargersWhat a debut for Lions rookie T.J. Hockenson who caught 6 balls for 131 yards and a TD vs the Cardinals. Despite the Cardinals being a less than stellar defense I think it was promising to see the big TE target be looked at 9 times and even get into the endzone. The Chargers have a good defense overall but I still think they are a bit weak at the LB position and without Derwin James don’t have that go-to safety that can match up with athletic TEs like Hockenson. It is a risk basing this off of 1 game but given what I saw this could be a familiar thing we see all season long as long as him and Stafford stay healthy.

Defense

Tennessee Titans D/ST ($3,100) vs ColtsThe Titans defense was excellent vs the Browns, who have elite weapons such as Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. They got to the QB 5 times with a safety and 3 interceptions 1 of which was taken back for a touchdown. The Colts offensive line is very good so we shouldn’t expect 5 sacks but the Titans secondary is one of the best units in the league led by Butler and Byard. Brissett was efficient in his first game for the Colts this season but he only threw for 190 yards and a lot of his throws consisted of dump offs including one that after 2 missed tackles led to a game tying touchdown. I just don’t think the Colts have enough firepower without Luck and the Titans will force a lot of 3 and outs and this will be a low scoring contest.
