Around the Betting Industry
The possibility of legal sports betting in Kentucky took a big step forward yesterday. House Bill 137, which would make sports betting legal in the state, passed the House Committee on Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations unanimously. Tax percentages would be set at 10.25% for in person bets and 14.25% for online bets. Tax revenue would go towards addiction services and Kentucky’s pension systems. Now the bill will head to the House floor for a vote with a very good chance of passing according to some state officials. The bill is sponsored by Representative Adam Koenig as well as about three dozen other representatives.

#20 Colorado vs Arizona State (+2.5) – 9:00 PM
The Colorado Buffaloes (13-3) bounced back from a loss to Oregon State with a blowout win over Utah 91-52 in their last game. Arizona State (10-6) defeated that same Oregon State team 82-76 last week before losing to Oregon a couple of days later 78-69.
Colorado is 139th in the country in points scored per game at 72.9. They are above average shooting from the field (158th) but have been excellent from deep, shooting 36.5% from three (55th). The Buffaloes are 76th in the country shooting from the line (73.4%). Their defense has been even better this season as they are allowing just 61.3 points per game (27th). Colorado opponents have shot 40% from the field (69th) and 31.3% from three (110th).
Arizona State’s offense has been slightly better than Colorado’s as they are scoring 73.3 points per game (131st). The Sun Devils are a fast-paced team that is in the Top 25 in the country in tempo. However, their shooting hasn’t been very good as they are 235th in FG%, 295th in 3PT% and 227th in FT%. The Sun Devils’ defense has allowed 69.3 points per game this season (191st). Opponents have shot 42.5% from the field (184th) and 32.3% from three (152nd).
Colorado is a slower-paced team that ranks around the middle of the pack in tempo. The pace of play of Arizona State could give this Colorado team trouble, especially on the road. The Sun Devils have also had a slightly tougher schedule than Colorado. A tough divisional game on the road for a Colorado team that is fairly new to being ranked seems destined for an upset. Roll with Arizona State to get the cover here as they could possibly win this one outright. The formula has this one as a virtual tie, with the smallest edge going to Colorado 70.2-70.1.
