Around the Betting Industry
Last week, the Montana Lottery Commission determined which sports and what types of bets can be placed. Now it appears that some sports betting locations will be available in time for March Madness which starts on March 17th. Over 100 businesses have been licensed to offer sports wagering.
While mobile is legal in the state, it is not in the traditional sense that it will be state-wide. Instead, mobile bets will only be able to be placed near betting kiosks. Instead of having the freedom to bet anywhere in the state, mobile betting will just be a small benefit in that bettors won’t have to leave their bar stool or table to place their bets. They will still need to be near an approved kiosk located in one of the licensed businesses to make their wagers.

Kansas State vs #2 Baylor (123) – 8:00 PM
The Kansas State Wildcats (9-18) take on the #2 Baylor Bears (24-2) tonight in Waco. Kansas State has now lost their last seven games after falling to Texas 70-59 on Saturday. Baylor saw their run at #1 end this week after falling to new #1 Kansas 64-61 on Saturday.
Kansas State has had a very tough year. They have one of the worst offenses in the country, averaging just 64.3 points per game (325th). The Wildcats struggle shooting from everywhere on the court. They rank 301st in FG%, 269th in 3PT% and 329th in FT%. They allow just the 58th-fewest points per game but that is attributed to their slower style of play. Kansas State ranks 190th in opponent FG% and 202nd in opponent 3PT%.
Baylor has been one of the best teams in the country, especially defensively. The Bears are allowing just 58.4 points per game, third-best in the country. They hold opponents to the 13th-lowest FG% and 49th-lowest 3PT%. Offensively, the Bears aren’t that great. They rank just 188th in points per game. While they do have a solid 3PT% (91st), but they struggle with overall FG% (221st) and from the free-throw line (241st).
Baylor lost to Kansas because of Udoka Azubuike dominating in the paint. Kansas State doesn’t have anyone of that caliber on their roster. The spread is fairly high (14 points) for a game with a total this low. Baylor should get a blowout victory here as they rebound from that tough loss to Kansas. However, the Under is the better play here. Baylor’s defense is suffocating and Kansas State struggles to score. This will be a slow-paced game with strong defensive play. I don’t see Kansas State scoring enough for this game to go Over but at the same time, a backdoor cover scares me. Roll with the Under instead of the spread. The formula has Baylor winning this game 66-51.
