DraftKings World Series Game 2 Betting Pick
Tonight at 8:08 PM EST is Game 2 of the World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers claimed Game 1 of this series last night by a score of 8-3.
The Rays fell into an 8-1 hole in the sixth inning before scoring two runs in the seventh to close the gap. However, eight runs was too many as the final scored ended up 8-3. Tampa Bay, which has made it this far with the league’s best pitching staff, couldn’t quite the Dodgers’ bats in Game 1. Los Angeles scored their eight runs on 10 hits, including two home runs.
Clayton Kershaw was vintage in his start, going six innings allowing just one earned run and striking out eight. He only allowed two hits. The young phenom Tyler Glasnow struggled in his first World Series start, lasting just 4.1 innings and allowing six earned runs despite only giving up three hits (but allowed six walks).
Now in Game 2, Blake Snell will take the mound for Tampa Bay and will go against Tony Gonsolin of the Dodgers. Snell has enjoyed another excellent season that saw him compile an ERA of 3.24, the second-best ERA of his career. In his two starts against the Houston Astros in the ALCS, Snell went nine innings and allowed three runs. For Gonsolin, he also had an excellent year on the mound, compiling a 2.31 ERA in 46.2 IP. However, in his two NLCS appearances against the Atlanta Braves, Gonsolin allowed seven earned runs in just 6.1 innings. He also allowed six walks.
This isn’t a must-win for Tampa Bay, since it is just Game 2 but it almost feels that way. They have the advantage on this mound in this game and against this Dodgers’ starting pitching, that is tough to do. The Rays have the bullpen advantage as well but they need a strong performance from Blake Snell in Game 2 and they should get that. Tampa struck out 10 times and drew just one walk in Game 1. Look for them to be more patient in Game 2 and work the count a little better against a pitcher who can be wild at times. Behind a great performance from Snell, the Rays should get Game 2 and even this series up at 1-1.
