English Premier League Title Pick: Tottenham +1200 at William Hill Sportsbook
Sports betting is sweeping across America. Tennessee, for example, is one of the newest states to legalize. Tennessee sports betting goes live on November 1st, 2020. With sports betting coming alive in the United States, why not bet on one of the most popular sporting leagues in the world, The English Premier League? Right now, there are some great odds on the EPL winners, in a year in which the race for the title seems wide open.
Tottenham +1200
Tottenham currently has the third-best odds to bring home a title, but I really like the value for money at +1200. Tottenham has some great things going for them.
José Mourinho
The first is a proven winning manager in José Mourinho. José has won everywhere he has gone, and winning is in his blood. This has to be the biggest reason to bet on this squad, it is simply the fact that Mourinho will always give you a fighting chance at the title. He does not accept mediocrity, and all the players will go out there and battle for him
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min
The second reason to bet on this team is this attacking duo. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min look to be two of the top goal scorers in the world at the moment. These two have been electric so far in the season, and both have stayed healthy. The past couple of years, injuries have derailed the season for Tottenham; however, the hope is that Son and Kane have put that behind them. If you could guarantee a healthy season from these two, then Tottenham would have a much lower payout. It would most likely be almost half of what is being offered right now.
Back-up Striker
However, the third reason makes me even more confident. Tottenham went out and got depth. Harry Kane has literally never had a solid #2 striker behind him to give him rest or perform when he gets a knock. That has changed with bringing in Carlos Vinícius, a prolific Brazilian striker. In Portugal, Vinícius had 18 goals in 32 league games. Vinícius’ game is very similar to Kane’s, he is speedy, has great vision, is a huge target, and can score in the box with the rest of them. Nowhere near the talent level of Kane yet, but he brings with him a similar skill set that allows José to plug and play him.
A Perfect Transfer Window
The last reason that Tottenham has to be a great pick is the transfers that they brought in. Not the most expensive window ever, but they brought in 7 talented players to the squad who all have a role. Sergio Reguilón has been fantastic so far in his appearances at LB. He has recorded one of the fastest sprint times in world football and has looked solid in the back and lethal going forward. Then you have Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, the perfect Mourinho holding midfielder. He has been solid in a defensive role and has done great connecting the defense to the attack. Matt Dohetry was another signing who brings possible starting talent, but more than anything, great depth. Him and Serge Aurier give José two legitimate options at RB. Both can play their heart out, knowing that they will not have to conserve energy for the next game. Joe Hart was brought in as a solid option for back-up GK, and Joe Rodon gives the club an exciting young talent to play as a depth piece at center-back.
When it comes down to it though, the biggest transfer for Tottenham was signing Gareth Bale back on loan. Even if he is not the same player that he once was, he will still be an insane piece to add to the front 3. However, Bale has been quoted many times saying that when he is not having fun he cannot play well. The past years have been miserable in Madrid for him, and now he is coming back home to a club that loves him. From interviews and media posts, he could not seem more excited. I believe that Bale will shock everyone and play near the levels that we saw in 2015 and 2016. If you think that I am right about that, then you should go take this bet right now. A line of Son-Kane-Bale, when Bale is playing anywhere near that level, would lead to the most dominant attack in the Prem, and one of the most dominant in Europe.
