Falcons & 49ers Lead DraftKings Odds For Drafting Justin Fields

Recently, DraftKings has been rolling out bets for the 2021 NFL Draft. This is one of the more interesting draft classes due to the level of quarterbacks coming in and quarterback-needy teams in line to get them. We know Trevor Lawrence will be off the board, but there is still some uncertainty after that. Odds have been released on Justin Fields and the team to draft him. Atlanta has been heavily linked, and then some quarterbacks within the top 15 will have a major interest. Let’s dive in to see who could land the Buckeye quarterback.

atlanta falconsFalcons Best Odds +250

Atlanta will need a franchise quarterback soon, but now it seems like they will ride with Matt Ryan for the next few years. He has a highly untradeable contract, but he hasn’t really been the issue. Defensively they have been very inconsistent, but over the second half of the season, they looked immensely better. They have some positions to replace, but they have options now regarding what they can do in the draft and free agency. Atlanta could get under the cap after restructuring his deal, essentially pushing money back on his deal. This could mean a few things, the Falcons are fine riding out Ryan over the next few years, or they are expecting the salary cap to go up in 2022. Fields is in play here, but they could also trade back and spread out their picks.

san francisco 49ers49ers Trading Up?

What if one of those teams was the 49ers trading up with Atlanta? San Francisco sits with the 12th pick in the draft, behind teams like the Giants, Broncos, Panthers, and Eagles. Quarterbacks will be off the board quickly, and it is tough to see the top four last in time for San Francisco to stay put. We know Denver and Carolina are possibly in play for a quarterback, and even if one slips past them, you have the NFC East teams that could look at that as a gift. San Francisco is at +450, but the Panthers, Jets, and Broncos are just a shade behind them.

The Field

Looking at the rest of these teams, Carolina seems like a strong bet to make a move. If anything can’t come about with Deshaun Watson, then the draft is where they will have to go. Carolina picks 8th, and if things go a bit chalky and teams are a bit down on Fields, the Panthers could stay home and have him fall to them. Miami is the other team in play here because they have the third pick, and if teams believe Atlanta stays put into taking a quarterback, trying to get ahead of them would be key. There are many possibilities here, and we haven’t even discussed if the Jets make a turn late and like Fields over Wilson. New York is +500 behind the Panthers, 49ers, and Falcons. You have some long-shot odds like Houston at +1000. This is basically them shipping Watson off to a team within the top picks and taking Fields. Chicago at +1400 and New England at +1000 are also in play.
