Fanatics Sportsbook’s Fair Play Policy Expands for NBA Playoffs

Fanatics Sportsbook is expanding its “Fair Play” policy to cover all first-half player exits throughout the NBA playoffs.

Essentially, if a player you’ve bet on leaves the game during the first half and doesn’t return, Fanatics will refund or void your bet, whether it’s a straight bet or a leg of a parlay or same-game parlay. No other book is offering this level of safety net during one of the biggest sports betting events of the year.

This expanded coverage builds on the original version of Fair Play, which only applied to first-quarter exits.

How Fanatics’ Fair Play policy works

Fanatics has an in-house trading team that monitors injuries. The process kicks into gear the moment a player exits with a potential injury. Here’s what happens next:

  • Fanatics enters “monitoring mode” to see if the player returns.
  • Updates are shared via social media (@FanaticsBook on X) and directly in the sportsbook app’s “Live Updates” tab.
  • If the player doesn’t return before halftime, the sportsbook will void or refund your player prop bet.
  • For parlays or SGPs, the affected leg is removed, and the rest of the bet still stands, so you don’t lose your entire ticket because of a fluke injury.

Key guidelines for Fair Play by league

While the NBA is the main focus right now, the Fair Play policy also applies to other sports:

  • NFL: Player prop bets are refunded or counted as a win (for unders) if your player exits in the first quarter and doesn’t return.
  • NBA and WNBA: The same policy applies for first-quarter injuries, but it’s extended to the whole first half during the playoffs.
  • NHL: Covers players leaving in the first period.
  • MLB: Coverage for specific early exit scenarios (see full house rules for details in the app).

Fair Play policy by the numbers

The Fair Play policy has already had a variety of effects according to internal Fanatics data:

  • Over $2.4 million has already been paid out on NBA prop bets affected by early exits.
  • Fanatics has awarded $6 million+ in parlay winnings since the start of football season.
  • In March alone, 14% of new users said Fair Play was the main reason they chose Fanatics.

How to follow live

If you’ve got action on a game, you can monitor potential Fair Play activations in real time. Just head to the Fair Play tab in the Fanatics app and click “Live Updates.”

There, you’ll find 24/7 injury status updates. You can also share your betslip or follow along on X for key alerts.
