FanDuel Adds Retail Sportsbooks in both Illinois and New Jersey

FanDuel Sportsbook is already the biggest online sports betting option in the United States, but the company is looking to increase its retail presence as well. A new retail sportsbook has been launched in both Illinois and New Jersey, and just in time for one of the biggest events of the year, the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
In Collinsville, Illinois, the FanDuel Sportsbook at FanDuel Sportsbook & Horse Racing is now open for business. This property was formerly Fairmount Park, and it should attract bettors from the St. Louis area.
FanDuel opened up a temporary retail sportsbook at Bally’s in Atlantic City in December, but a permanent sportsbook has now been established. Atlantic City is one of the biggest retail sports betting markets in the U.S., as all nine casinos now have a retail sportsbook on-site.
The opening of these two new retail sportsbooks brings the FanDuel total up to 16 throughout the United States. This company will continue to look for more opportunities to grow, but FanDuel continues to lead the way in the U.S.
Illinois Becoming Huge Market
Illinois launched sports betting just over one year ago, but the Land of Lincoln is already the fourth-largest sports betting market in the United States. The total sports betting handle in January was $581.5 million, shattering the previous record.
February was also the fourth straight month that Illinois set a new record for total betting handle, and it could pass up the state of Pennsylvania by Summer 2021. Online sports betting has accounted for nearly 100% of the wagers in Illinois, but FanDuel is hoping to boost the retail numbers.
Can New Jersey Hit $1 Billion?
New Jersey is the biggest sports betting market in the United States, and it continues to set industry records nearly every month. Retail sports betting does play a role in the large numbers, and FanDuel now has a pair of retail locations in the state.
In December 2020, New Jersey posted a total sports betting handle of $996.3 million, which is the best month ever recorded in the United States. January’s total betting handle dipped to just $958.7 million, but that number was still much more than any other state.
New Jersey is expected to go over the $1 billion mark in total sports betting handle at some point in the coming months.
Big NCAA Tournament Promotions
The entire U.S. sports betting industry is preparing for what should be a huge next three weeks. The 2021 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is set to begin, and March Madness always brings out a considerable number of bets.
FanDuel Sportsbook is offering an NCAA Tournament parlay insurance promotion for each day of the upcoming tournament. Bettors can place a 3+ leg parlay and will get their money back if all but one legs hit.
The online site also offers a “Spread the Love” campaign in various markets throughout the United States. This promotion will move the spread betting lines one full point for every 2,500 wagers, with no limit on how much the line can be moved.
