FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 6/12/19
Contents
MLB DFS is a high variance game, but one of the more fun fantasy points to play. Cash games you want to find consistent high floor pitchers, and the same goes for hitters. Tournaments you want to find lower owned bats and pitchers that carry huge upside. This article will point you in the direction of both.
Pitchers
Jose Berrios ($9,600) – Minnesota is a -216 favorite tonight, and the Mariners have a 3.6 implied total on the board. Great spot for Jose Berrios, and we get him at a sub $10,000 price tag. Dating back to last season, Berrios has a 24.6% strikeout rate, and 3.97 xFIP. He has held both sides to under a .300 wOBA, and will face a high strikeout prone offense. Seattle’s projected lineup has a 22.7% strikeout rate against right-handers dating back to last season. A .315 wOBA and .167 ISO is quite pedestrian as well.
Cash Hitters
Jean Segura ($3,300) – Merrill Kelly has a 4.68 xFIP and has allowed a .211 ISO to right-handers. The hard-contact and flyball rates are poor as well. Kelly relies mostly on a cutter, fastball, and curveball to right-handed hitters. He will mix in a sinker at times, but just at 15%. Jean Segura has a .444 wOBA and .291 ISO off the fastball range, and an 85% contact rate against curveballs. He struggles a bit with cutters, but it won’t shake me off of him. Segura is a cheap bat to consider for Phillies exposure tonight.
Nelson Cruz ($3,600) – Sure, Tommy Milone has found some strikeout stuff this season, and it is a rather small sample. He has allowed a .387 wOBA and .266 ISO to right-handers since last season. The flyball rate is at 47% and hard-contact is at 37%. You should know the drill by now with Nelson Cruz. He has a .411 wOBA and .318 ISO off southpaws dating back to last season. I find Cruz’s price to be a real bargain tonight, and this Minnesota offense just continues to crush.
Nicholas Castellanos ($3,100) – Nicholas Castellanos has a .390 wOBA and .237 ISO off left-handed pitching this season. The hard-contact is up over 50%, and he faces Danny Duffy tonight. Since 2018, Castellanos has a .422 wOBA and .200 ISO off left-handers. In that span, Danny Duffy has allowed a .338 wOBA and .172 ISO. He is at a great price tonight, and should also fly under the radar for tournaments as well.
Tournament Hitters
Whit Merrifield ($3,600) – Whit Merrifield has a .385 wOBA and .210 ISO off lefties since last season, and has always been a strong bat against left-handed pitching. He has a sub 20% strikeout rate and 38% hard-contact rate. In this span, Daniel Norris has allowed a .341 wOBA and .179 ISO to right-handers. Merrifield is sneaky good against lefty sliders, sporting a .206 ISO and 72% contact rate. The fastball range, he has a .527 wOBA and .333 ISO.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($3,100) – Vlad, you are going have a monster night one of these days. Tonight is that night. He has a .342 wOBA and .194 ISO off right-handers. His contact is still positive and he has a 44% hard-contact rate against right-handers. It also sets up to be a great matchup. David Hess has allowed over a .400 wOBA and .400 ISO to right-handers this season. Taking it back to last season, he has allowed a .384 wOBA and .286 ISO.
