FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 6/18/19
Contents
MLB DFS is a high variance game, but one of the more fun fantasy points to play. Cash games you want to find consistent high floor pitchers, and the same goes for hitters. Tournaments you want to find lower owned bats and pitchers that carry huge upside. This article will point you in the direction of both.
Pitchers
Jack Flaherty ($8,000) – The up and down season has Jack Flaherty at a cheap price tag, and he is in a home matchup against the Miami Marlins. The Cardinals are -229 favorites, and the Marlins have under a four implied total. Flaherty has been unlucky at times, and has a 3.63 xFIP with a 26.3% strikeout rate. The matchup is enticing, as the Marlins projected lineup has a .309 wOBA, .125 ISO, and 23.5% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. For $8,000, you can stack a lot of hitters and get similar upside from Flaherty in comparison to higher priced arms.
Cash Hitters
Mookie Betts ($4,100) – Michael Pinata, or Pineda I suppose we should call him has been very below average this season. Against right-handers, he is allowing a .366 wOBA and .245 ISO to right-handers. Hitters also have a ridiculous 49.6% hard-contact rate and 45.5% flyball rate. Pineda throws mainly fastballs and sliders to right-handers. Hitters have a .390 wOBA off his slider, and a .278 ISO. Fastball, hitters have a .215 ISO. After a sluggish start, Betts has a .401 wOBA and .230 ISO off right-handed pitching.
Anthony Rizzo ($4,200) – The Cubs are in a great spot tonight, at home against Ivan Nova. Anthony Rizzo has been crushing this season with a .427 wOBA and .299 ISO off right-handed pitching. Ivan Nova is a flyball arm, who has allowed a .407 wOBA and .221 ISO to lefties this season. They also have a 35% hard-contact rate and 26% line drive rate. Nova is throwing mostly sinkers and changeups to lefties, putting Rizzo in an even better spot. He has a .505 wOBA off sinkers, and a .393 wOBA off changeups. The Cubs are one of a few teams over a five implied total tonight.
Josh Reddick ($3,200) – Josh Reddick has had a strong year so far, and gets a bump in Great American Ballpark with their numbers allowed to lefties. Anthony DeScalfani also helps his case. He has allowed a.411 wOBA ad .292 ISO to lefties, with a 49% hard-contact rate. Reddick offers up some value for an outfield spot at just $3,200. Reddick has a .423 wOBA and 37% hard-contact rate off DeSclafani’s fastball range. He also has strong contact numbers against his off-speed pitches.
Tournament Hitters
Ketel Marte ($3,900) – Ketel Marte has turned into a power hitter, although the juiced ball season might have helped. He has a .365 wOBA and .251 ISO off right-handers, and will face a weak one tonight. Anthony Senzatela has allowed a .445 wOBA and .241 ISO to lefties this season. Lefties also have a whopping 32% line drive rate. He relies mostly on his fastball, which Marte has a .381 wOBA off this range. Arizona and Colorado is a game I want to get exposure to, even if it isn’t in Coors. Arizona has a 5.5 implied total, and Marte should still get overlooked.
Yandy Diaz (3,600) – J.A. Happ has allowed a .238 ISO and .327 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season. They also have over a 40% flyball rate and hard-contact rate. Happ’s xFIP is on the rise and his strikeout rate is dropping. Ynady Diaz has a .275 ISO off lefties this season, with a .449 wOBA. The hard-contact is also over 50%. Diaz continues to crush lefties
