FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 6/25/19

MLB DFS is a high variance game, but one of the more fun fantasy points to play. Cash games you want to find consistent high floor pitchers, and the same goes for hitters. Tournaments you want to find lower owned bats and pitchers that carry huge upside. This article will point you in the direction of both.

Pitchers

Shane Bieber ($9,800) – Weirdly I am not thrilled with pitching on this slate, despite it being 15 games and also carrying Max Scherzer. Shane Bieber is the name I like tonight, given he is a huge home favorite with upside. His price tag is also below $10,000, which is a nice plus. Bieber gets a pretty pedestrian lineup against right-handed pitching, and has strikeout potential. His 31.4% strikeout rate this season is tremendous, and hitters have just a 66% contact rate. While he has had troubles with lefties in his career, the Royals projected left-handed bats have a .286 wOBA and .106 ISO off right-handed pitching this season.

Cash Hitters

Shohei Ohtani ($3,500) – Tyler Mahle has continuously struggled with left-handed hitters. He has allowed a .372 wOBA to them this season, and dating back to last year it sits at .403. Mahle is also allowing a .269 ISO and 43% flyball rate in that span. Not great numbers, so we can pick on him in this spot with lefties. Shohei Ohtani is one of them, sporting a .406 wOBA and .308 ISO against right-handed pitching since last season. While the Angels offense is back at home, this lineup is healthy and looking much better compared to earlier in the season.

Ryan Braun ($3,000)Marco Gonzales has been an average left-handed arm over the last few seasons, allowing a .318 wOBA to right-handers. He doesn’t have much strikeout stuff, and will shift to a hitters park in Milwaukee. Gonzales throws an off-speed changeup compared to his sinker, which Ryan Braun has a .422 wOBA and .299 ISO off changeups. In general, Braun has a .236 ISO off lefties dating back to last season. Lorenzo Cain and Hernan Perez are a few other cheap to mid-range right-handed bats to consider.

Eric Hosmer ($3,100) – I love the Padres tonight, and Eric Hosmer has been sneaky good lately. His price is on the cheaper side, and he is in a big boost for park factors. Against right-handed pitching, he has a .358 wOBA and .180 ISO. He will face a weak right-handers as Yacabonis allows a .393 wOBA and .333 ISO to left-handed hitters. San Diego has one of the higher implied totals on the slate, and is a strong option in all formats. Don’t be afraid to get plenty of exposure to SD.

Tournament Hitters

Daniel Vogelbach ($3,700) – Dating back to last season, Zach Davies has allowed a .358 wOBA and .182 ISO to lefties. His strikeout rate is at 15% and the line drive rate is at 25%. Davies in 2019 has a 4.91 xIFP and hitters have an 81% contact rate against him. Daniel Vogelbach is a big power lefty with a .320 ISO off right-handed pitching this season. Davies relies on his sinker and changeup combo. Vogelbach has a .340 wOBA and .182 ISO off changeups, and a .259 ISO off sinkers. Great spot for Vogelbach and should be overlooked on a big slate.

Justin Turner (3,200)Justin Turner has a .391 wOBA and .199 ISO off left-handed pitching dating back to last season. He is also one of the best contact bats in the game. Robbie Ray is a solid lefty, but often runs into trouble with the long ball. He is prone to blowups as well. Since 2018, Ray has allowed a .345 wOBA and .180 ISO to right-handed hitters. Ray throws a pretty good slider, but Turner can counter with a .416 wOBA and .239 ISO off sliders by left-handers. His contact rate is also 81%.
