FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 6/26/19
Contents
MLB DFS is a high variance game, but one of the more fun fantasy sports to play. Cash games you want to find consistent high floor pitchers, and the same goes for hitters. Tournaments you want to find lower owned bats and pitchers that carry huge upside. This article will point you in the direction of both.
Pitchers
Patrick Corbin ($9,800) – Patrick Corbin has been a bit up and down this year, but still he is one of the better arms on the slate. Dating back to last season, Corbin has a 3.12 xFIP and 29.4% strikeout rate. He has held both sides of the plate to under a .300 wOBA and hitters have just a .130 ISO off of him. He gets a projected Miami lineup that has a .309 wOBA, .131 ISO, and 20% strikeout rate against southpaws dating back to last season. Corbin has dominated them once, and to get him at a sub 10k price tag against the Marlins is certainly a plus.
Cash Hitters
Scott Kingery ($3,400) – We should keep riding the Scott Kingery train, who has turned into a strong fantasy option in 2019. You have Jason Vargas on the hill allowing over a .200 ISO to right-handed hitters, and his xFIP is over five. Kingery has a .406 wOBA and .220 ISO off southpaws this season, and also sports a 56% hard-contact rate. It is a small sample with pitch type stats, but Kingery does have a .267 ISO off changeups, and a .269 ISO off sinkers from left-handed pitching. He is still at a reasonable price tag despite his hot stretch.
Tommy La Stella ($3,000) – Another Cincinnati pitcher that struggles with left-handed hitters. Dating back to last season, Tanner Roark has allowed a .348 wOBA, .174 ISO, and 40% flyball rate to lefties. The left-handed bats standout again in this spot, but we will change it up with Tommy La Stella who has over a .200 ISO against right-handed pitching this season. He also enjoys the advantages of leading off behind a now healthy lineup. For $3,000, we got a nice bargain at the hot corner.
J.P. Crawford ($2,900) – J.P Crawford might have found new life here with Seattle, as he sports a .350 wOBA and .190 ISO off right-handers since last season. In 2019 alone, he has a .379 wOBA and .177 ISO. Houser is an average arm who struggles with walks. He throws mostly fastballs, but will work in a curve and changeup at times. Crawford has a .360 wOBA over the last 30 days, and a 42% hard-contact rate in the last two weeks. His price shouldn’t be under $3,000 for much longer, and he also enjoys a favorable park shift.
Tournament Hitters
Matt Olson ($3,200) – I would probably roll Matt Olson in cash games too, given the price tag. Dating back to last season, Olson has a .351 wOBA and .240 ISO against right-handed pitching. He gets Adam Wainwright tonight, who has struggled greatly against left-handed hitters. Since 2018, he is allowing a .387 wOBA and .200 ISO to them. Wainwright still throws that curveball quite a bit, and Olson has a .393 wOBA and .286 ISO off curves. Love the power potential for a cheap price tag.
Christian Yelich (4,700) – Lefty on lefty matchup? Who cares? Christian Yelich is mashing everyone and has a .420 wOBA and .273 ISO off lefties dating back to 2018. Wade LeBlanc has not dominated that side of the plate, allowing a .184 ISO and 45% flyball rate in that same span. Usually I do not pay these price tags, and will definitely not pay them in cash games, but tournament wise Yelich has a ton of potential as usual. LeBlanc throws a cutter and sunker to lefties mostly, and both have over a .350 wOBA allowed this season.
