FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 6/7/19
Contents
Below you will find a combination of six tournament and cash game hitters. One pitcher will be selected as well to help you build lineups for each MLB slate. Be sure to keep an eye out for weather, and also players being confirmed in the lineup. Use the toolbox to keep track.
Pitchers
Jacob deGrom ($10,300) – The Mets are -197 home favorites, and the Rockies have a 3.1 implied total. Gerrit Cole is a strong option against Baltimore, and these two are the top plays for tournaments and cash games. deGrom gets a Colorado lineup that struggles on the road, and has a hefty strikeout rate as well. deGrom has a 31.3% strikeout rate dating back to last season, and is holding both sides of the plate to under a .125 ISO and .280 wOBA. He has a whiff rate of 30%+ on four of his pitches. While his consistency has been a little rocky at times this season, deGrom is still a strong play regardless. He is a full $1,000 cheaper than Cole if you need that cash, and presents similar upside.
Cash Hitters
Matt Olson ($3,000) – Looking for a cheap power bat? Matt Olson is your guy. He has a .242 ISO and .353 wOBA off right-handers dating back to last season. Olson gets a bump moving to Texas, which is excellent hitting conditions tonight. He will also face Lance Lynn, who has allowed a .351 wOBA and 38% hard-contact rate to left-handed hitters. He throws mostly fastballs and sinkers to left-handed hitters. Olson has a .446 ISO off the fastball range, and a .311 ISO off sinkers. Olson is going to be in most of my lineups tonight, if not all.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($3,100) – It didn’t work out last night, but we are going back to the well in this spot. His price only went up $100 and he gives you a cheap option with power at 3B. He pairs well with Olson and deGrom to start building lineups. This is before we get to paying up. It is a small sample size for Vlad, but he has a .209 ISO and .348 wOBA off right-handed pitching this season. His hard-contact is up over 40% and his strikeout rate is at 19.6%. Exactly what we want to see from a young bat.
Bryce Harper ($4,100) – Tyler Mahle is great against right-handed hitters, but struggles greatly against left-handers. He has allowed a .408 wOBA and .269 ISO to lefties dating back to last season. Hard-contact and flyball rates are over 40%, and his strikeout rate is moderate. Bryce Harper has had his ups and downs in a Phillies uniform, but he is a strong play tonight against Mahle. He has a .242 ISO and .382 wOBA off right-handed pitching dating back to last season. There are a few pay up options to consider in terms of hitters, but Harper is my favorite tonight.
Cesar Hernandez ($2,800) – With Andrew McCutchen done for the year, Cesar Hernandez will move into the leadoff role. This ups his value from where he was before. He has an 80% contact rate and .338 wOBA off right-handed pitching dating back to last season. He offers up some cheap value at 2B, and the Phillies have an implied total over 4.5. As mentioned above, Mahle has struggled against left-handed pitching, allowing a .408 wOBA and .269 ISO to lefties since last season.
Tournament Hitters
Adalberto Mondesi ($3,900) – The 29% strikeout rate for Adalberto Mondesi is the downside for him, but he has a lot of power and speed. His upside is huge, and he will cost you a pretty penny, but Mondesi is an interesting tournament play tonight. He has a .338 wOBA and .212 ISO off right-handers dating back to last season. He faces Ivan Nova tonight, who has an 11.7% strikeout rate against lefties, and has allowed a .376 wOBA and .217 ISO.
Nick Castellanos ($3,000) – Nick Castellanos has a .198 ISO and .339 wOBA off right-handers since last season, and is another cheap power bat to consider. He gets Michael Pineda, who has allowed a .376 wOBA and .266 ISO to right-handers. His flyball and hard-contact rates are over 45%. He is prone to the long ball, and Castellanos has a .203 ISO off his fastball range. If you are looking for a low owned bat that will be sub-8%, Castellanos is certainly it.
